Internet tax in Hungary 0.6 USD after every GB data
Heya,
What a funny country I live in: the gov today officially announced that from 1st Jan 2015 they will tax internet, based on data transfers: 150 HUF [approx 0.6 USD] per GB. http://img.444.hu/tv1.png All hungarian online news are about this at the moment.. The reason: nowadays people much more tend to use skype or viber instead of making classic [gsm] phonecalls.. :pimp Stupid, isn't it? :error :helpme :error :helpme This FB page against the new tax just started today - gets 20-25 likes every second, and we are a small 10m country :P OOOOOH and meanwhile the head of the hungarian IDS got banned from the Unites States along with 5 other unnamed government members. |
I go over 300GIG a month in my country :)
|
OMG!! That would suck if others follow..
|
you guys are quickly moving backwards into stone age - sad
|
that sucks.. they tried that in canada and almost had a full scale revolution on their hands.
i highly recommend something like that for you, before this madness spreads |
that sucks :(
|
Wow! :upsidedow:upsidedow
|
Damn politics....
|
Time to move!
|
that is just too much, pay for net, no tax after
|
There's quite a bit of media hysteria surrounding this ("the sky is falling!"=pageviews), but keep calm, it's expected to be capped at a couple of dollars per month for private users and most likely $20 for businesses.
Not saying it's the right direction at all, just that the media is sensationalizing it as usual. Also, as far as I know the law has yet to be passed and there are signs of opposition (not just civil). |

furthermore, it's a direct attack on how we all feed ourselves. anyone in this business who thinks this is a good idea, needs a good long think about what they want the future to be. tear the government down. seriously. |
you must be black or something because i dont userstand you hu bro :winkwink:
|
$.60/GB is more than transfer has cost in a long time.
That rate is way too high. I could maybe understand $.06/GB but even so, that is high. |
barbarians are at the door
|
i think the main problem is that the current government is turning the country into a fascist dictatorship
|
it's capped at 700HUF/month (?2.3). not a big deal.

Tell your politicians no one does it in the world. unbelievable ... anyways good luck living there. ( I guess we found a good location for filming Borat 2 )

I'm surprised the US doesn't have a tax yet since all "utilities" do.
|
I presume ISPs are kicking up a stink, since they'd be the ones who have to bear the cost of compliance.

wow that tax is ridiculous.
looks like your government wants to have revolution among young people....they will either leave or throw down government.... |
I think this is only to get ppl mad, it is only a bone to chew, to take the focus off the fact that the US banned some Hungarian politicians for being so corrupt that it now hurts the interests of the US.

It's funny when I see many people in my country (Croatia) telling that we need a strong leader like Viktor Orban, to unite as and lead us out of recession.
