Hello from me, posting from the hospital

Hey everyone, hope you're all doing better than me. I'm posting from my hosp bed, so needless to say that surgery I had a few weeks ago did not go well. I had a cardiac event the night after (heart rate shot to 200 beats per min).

They got that fixed, but then a few days later I passed out while up walking (nurses caught me thankfully). On another occasion after getting chest x-rays one of the techs got careless while pushing my stretcher and my main IV was ripped out.

Oh yes and I was severely constipated.

About a week ago I suddenly could not walk on my left leg, and have been in severe pain from the sciatic nerve that was worked on, so I am now scheduled for another surgery, so on May 3rd I go back under the knife, this time to fix what is now bugging that nerve.

Those who don't know, nerve pain is some of the worst, believe me. Can't wait until it's done and over with. Those who do know, post and let me know how yours went and if it's better or worse now.
Or just say hello.
Or troll me. You all know I am a lover of the trollage.

Bye for now, time for some physio (with the hot physio chick) :D

Best of luck with everything. I know nerve pain is horrible because it never lets up, it's constant. Hope they fix everything once and for all for you soon.

Keep your spirits up! GFY will be here for you when you get back on your feet hopefully pain free. :)

I went through 7 months of agony with my sciatic nerve...until the surgery. I was up to 3 Oxys every two hours...and it was barely dulling the pain. Couldn't find any sort of comfortable position. Barely slept at night. I was beginning to feel like it was a forever condition I'd have to live with the rest of my life.

The surgery fixed it completely. However, the doc said there could be a relapse on the opposite side further down the road. So far...so good.

So hopefully there's a light at the end of the tunnel for you too, CD. Keep up the hope, they can do amazing things in surgery these days. I walked out of the hospital under my own power the same day as the surgery - no joke. I hate wheelchairs, lol.

Get well. :)

What triggered the cardiac event? Was there an arrhythmia or just tachycardic?

Hope they get you all sorted out soon.

Mutt 05-01-2016 12:29 AM

Damn, seems like hospitals cause more damage than they fix a lot of the time. What caused the heart event?

I hope the rest of your stay goes smoother so you can get out of there ASAP!

LOL that must be your biggest fear. I laughed out loud for real, how do you stay on point 100% of the time.
The only thing I can think is you really do shit yourself or you are very smart and able to always keep it on the brain. Or maybe both.
I guess even a stupid shitter too. So that is 4 different options. I know you only like having 2. ba dum tisk

good folkz in this thread

OneHungLo 05-01-2016 02:52 PM

Wow that's terrible. My back is pretty fucked up but I just deal with the pain. I've had a few surgeons recommend a spinal fusion surgery but I'm able to tolerate the pain and haven't lost any mobility so I'm passing, partly because I don't want anything botched and end up more fucked up than I already am.

Good luck, CD.

Good luck man; I don't trust many in the medical profession, hope it works out

CDSmith 05-01-2016 07:24 PM

Thanks for all the great replies guys. Quick update; the cardiac thing is a bit complicated, there's no way for me to answer why it happened without typing out a huge diatribe, but rest assured they have it now under control. I'm quite confident that this go-round will be a lot smoother.

Speaking of smooth, what finally cured the butt blockage was a dulcolax suppository. Every 3 days like clockwork now. :D

Thanks everyone. Seriously it means a lot.

Tuesday morning... here goes.... round 2...

Wait, did someone say I can has a gofundme link?
