US Drops "Mother of all bombs" (MOAB) Bomb on Afghanistan
|
Trump is insecure he will do everything bigger & harder.
71 year old Trump it trying to cause as much destruction as possible before he's removed from office. Bombs are a distraction from his FBI collusion investigations. |
|
At least he's not boring :)

A lot of rocks became gravel today.

BTW, why exactly is the USA still in Afghanistan .... I thought that Bin Laden was killed .... in Pakistan.... |
The MOAB was dropped in the Afghan-Pakistan frontier area.
That is like the badlands of the US Mexico border area. Until proven otherwise, we (USA) just tested a very expensive big bomb on a mountain. Probably killed 3 goats and maybe a Taliban or two. This is not not a real event or tragedy. The pictures of the big hole in the ground will be all over the Internet for a week. It's a publicity stunt and a diversion perhaps. |

First off that bomb was "tested" in 2003...so no need to "test" it. And secondly it was used on an ISIS installation that is located there: First on CNN: US drops largest non-nuclear bomb in Afghanistan - CNNPolitics.com "Officials said the target was an ISIS cave and tunnel complex and personnel in the Achin district of the Nangarhar province." Same area that they just killed one our Green Beret soldiers a couple of days ago who was trying to infiltrate that tunnel system. You are woefully uninformed on this. Which means you are just about par for the course for "matter-of-fact" styled posts on GFY. You are in the same group as Rochard...who claimed yesterday that Afghanistan was doing great and didn't need the U.S. to prop up the govt. or do any kind of military action. lol |

All good. Trump called it "ANOTHER successful event". This is just another in a very long line of successes for him I guess...
|
That is part of what makes America GREAT, ain't it??
|
The dropping of this bomb may have also been a show of force against North Korea.
You won't find this in the history books, but the US nuked Japan as a warning for Russia to not keep the eastern European lands they were occupying. Diplomatic relations between US and Russia had broken down just a few days before the bomb was dropped. |
The military establishment has been looking to test this new creation out for some time.
The Pentagon wanted a new heavier "BUNKER BUSTER" Bomb. So it looks like they found the test pilot for it. Funny to see everyone get excited over much to do bout nothin. They probably will get into that area and xray the ground to see how effective it was. So troops will be needed to maintain the area while they do that. They normally would have used a ground penetrating bomb. And they have some pretty big ones. But they have their limits. I guess if you can shake the ground enough, that will do the trick ! |
Bomb was tested back in 2003. The media has been showing that 2003 footage of it being dropped from a plane and exploding all day today.
Do any of you people watch the news? Or do you just make totally uninformed statements on what you guess to be reality... |
|
Trumpīs saying he did not authorise this bomb on the Pakistan border, he gave the US military the authorisation :2 cents:

This is the first use of this model in real combat. The purpose is to find out if it penetrates deep enough to take out N.Korea's underground complex. And to send the message, we could use this to do just that. It was considered to be the primary weapon to take out Iran's underground nuclear installations. So by the time real development was done for it, that was the primary target for it's specs under the Obama admin. So the present admin wants "options" to take on N.Korea in a quick sweep and so they dust it off and test it out. I do more than watch/read the news, I understand it as it presents itself. But you can't pick and choose what you read and expect to understand. |

While factual to some points. It is misleading by far. The network of tunnels has been there for at least a few thousand years. 'Few' new passageways were constructed and mainly cache rooms made to store weapons and ammo and fighters. They became the hide-out of choice because they were unreachable by armaments. Considering you can't get the kinda equipment needed to those areas very easy, it would have taken 5k men 50 years to build such a array of tunnels with modern equipment. They were there before Christ was a sperm. They are sprinkled throughout the mountainous regions. And by all means there are plenty more of them. Several hundred of these new MOAB's would not destroy them all. When the US-Afghan war started, the Russians gave us most maps of the known tunnels they explored in their 80's war with them and we used and tested every hardened 'bunker buster ' we had to seal-up these caverns. Few of them were very effective. Hence the re-designed MOAB. Even if it was not effective in destroying the depths of all the tunnels, it would have sealed the fate of everyone inside and the arms cache inside. For they have not the man power or equipment to open them back up. When ever there is a release of some new 'startling' info in or about the US military, you always have to suspect it is not a complete story and has political motivation to steer public opinion. Good bad or indifferent. But you should always ask plenty more questions before buying into it on the wholesale level. |
Robbie "Testing" was sarcasm.
They (Afghan government sources) claim 3 dozen dead ISIS. Trump is just rattling cages with these isolated military actions. Trump is showboating. The US is having a clearance sale on bombs and missiles this month -- they are getting near their freshness date expiration. The US can throw its military might around but military action is a the result of political failure. So, Trump is admitting political defeat already -- 2 months in. The Tomahawk attack in Syria was a political statement. The MOAB bombing was a show of force for Fat Boy in NK to consider his options. Neither event accomplished much and will not turn the tides of war in any real beneficial direction. North Korea is getting their missile software and electronics from Chinese middlemen and the precision machine tools from Europe using the same Chinese middlemen Quote:

Institute for Science and International Security 440 First Street, NW Suite 800 Washington, DC 20001 Talk about a fucked up domain name :upsidedow So, Trump's answer to to send a US carrier task force in and stir up the hornets nest? Why not just put the proverbial bullet in Fat Boy's head and say "it wasn't us" as usual -- Putin style and move on ... Fat Boy is by now hiding in his rabbit hole (bunker). So, this is not the end of Fat Boy -- he will rant from his bunker. MOAB requires air superiority to be used so it is no fast solution -- it is the mother of all bluffs. |
