Sure, they need electricity. And they have been offered the technology to give them electricity, but they want to enrich uranium themselves.

The President has stated numerous times that Israel needs to be wiped off the map. To this day he still denies the Holocaust, in fact right now they are setting up a committee to prove the Holocaust didn't happen. They supply Hezbollah with money and weapons. If you haven't been paying attention, Hezbollah and Israel were just at war.

Iran has been secretly toying with uranium for 18 years. They have denied UN inspections on numerous occasions.

Iran wants to become a super-power. Nuclear technology will give them the bargaining chip they need to control their part of the world, if not more, which none of its neighboring countries want except maybe Syria. They already have a huge bargaining chip right now called oil. Oil is now a major influence on how Russia and China will proceed. How much power would nuclear technology give them?

Those are just a few of the issues. I'm sure there are more.

Iran said on several occasions about 2.5 years ago that it wants to nuke Israel.
other than that, some Islamic countries including Iran believes america is the "the big devil" and it needs to be fought off.
