1 ron paul quote, keep the hate out.

"I want to be president not because I want to run your lives, I don't want to be president to run the economy. I don't want to be president to run the world. I want to be president to restore liberty. I want a government that protects your privacy and exposes government secrecy."
Ron Paul

I couldnt imagine those words coming from any other cadidate that is left in the race and that is sad to me.

tony286 01-11-2008 10:45 PM

he wants to give it to the states, it would be very very fucked up.

TheDoc 01-11-2008 10:48 PM

Dr. Paul is a great idea man, just read/listen to him, he has the best ideas ever... But that's all they are, ideas. With no game plan to back them up.

This is a part of the mindset that kills Freedom, Prosperity and Peace.

Apparently, you haven't listened to him either.

collegeboobies 01-11-2008 11:06 PM

The game plan is clear, cut spending. He has outlined many ways to do this.

on Paul may be, but Ron Paul is not crazy and that is a fact. Please back up your assertions with facts. Many of the things he says make sense if you think about it on any deep level.

I have several times. Him saying the gov will just have to work with him, isn't an answer. And having an answer to the few simple problems doesn't cut it.

I haven't heard him explain how he will drop the IRS, or go to gold and how the banks with get the money, and how the stores will, and what form of money will be used, and how I will get it?

I never heard him explain how he was giving power to the states and what the millions of gov works are going to do once he kills of half the gov.

Maybe you know?

Socks 01-12-2008 12:29 AM

Imagine if he took office and made all the info that the government is constantly trying to sweep under the carpet or destroy public knowledge.

I can hear the sounds of the shotguns now, imagine how many "important" people would kill themselves immediately.

If for nothing else Ron Paul is a whack job for wanting to fix things that are not already broken? just too change them

The man is some sort of whacked out crazy

who I am sure is done once whatever office he holds not expires.

He has a few good ideas? but hell so does my 8 year old daughter? but that doesn?t qualify her to be president especially since she makes statements on par with paul

a comparison

Ron Paul: ? I would get rid of the IRS and put all the power of government in the hands of individual states?

My Daughter: ? I would make everyone eat ice cream for breakfast and make all kids the boss of their parents?

So as you can very well see? I don?t think either should be president of anything? let alone the United States of America

:2 cents:

That's a very easy question to answer. Just refer to US history prior to 1913.

No, that's an idea, a theory if you would. You can't just flip us back to 1913, over the last 100+ years the Fed Gov has been forced to step in and regulate the state and people.

As an example: If the Porn Industry didn't have the federal gov, porn would be illegal in most states. Thank god we had the Fed Gov protect us cause the state/people attacked us. This is 1 of 1000+ possible examples.

WoW! You just changed my life.
And it's good thing Ron Paul doesn't want a return to the constitution.

Glad I could help..

"never vote for legislation unless the proposed measure is expressly authorized by the Constitution."

Well, here is a quasi extreme case. Paul is very pro life. so he takes office and basically helps make it so that states can ban abortion. So many of the more conservative states do just that. You happen to be an 18 year old girl who made a mistake and you get pregnant. You would like to get an abortion. It is illegal in your state and all the surround states because you happen to live in the bible belt. The closest state to you that still has it legal is 1200 miles away. Why should you have to leave your state to do something that is not illegal on a federal level? Why shouldn't all of us have the same freedoms? This persons freedom to choose is being hindered.

Now take it a step further. This state that still has it legal has seen a huge influx of people from surrounding states coming there to get abortions. They decide to pass a law saying you can't get an abortion unless you are citizen of that state. So now you have to move. Again, this is not something that is illegal on a federal level, but now we have different rules for different parts of the country. I know that is how many people want it, but to me that is pretty fucked up.

What if your state decides to ban booze? Should you be forced to move to a different state, get another job and start over away from your friends and family because you enjoy a beer from time to time?

States rights are good but to me they could easily be abused and we could end up with a country that is divided and pitting state against state.

Foreign policy and economy is more important than that, you have to take other things in sacrifice of others.

Ok, then. I choose 1907. How likely is it that a JP Morgan would come in today and help organize the liquidity banks need in such a crisis?

Mistah Charlie 01-12-2008 10:12 AM

Here's how I see the question: is the US the World Police? Are we in charge of punishing dictators and invading rouge states? Even if you are stupid enough to believe we are in charge, there are a few other countries that disagree, like China and Russia. Plus every school kid knows you don't go around picking fights and talking smack when you can't back it up. Osama Bin Laden is free. Afganistan is sliding back into the hand of warlords, drug cartels, and the Taliban, and Iraq, which will end up costing the US over 3 trillion dollars (wanna know why the dollar is low?), will end up with a regime allied with Iran and largely hostile to US interests. Ron Paul has got this part right. His domestic and tax policies are typical of your southern republican hypocrite. Having ruined our government, they now use it's bloated disfunctionality as the reason to scrap it.

The thing is, more than half the countries that the US claims to be "rouge" are not even rouge states lol, if anything the US is the most rouge country in the world.

ron paul on black people: "If you have ever been robbed by a black teenaged male, you know how unbelievably fleet-footed they can be."

I can field this one.....even though I won't be voting for Paul.

I simply take a look at my own life.

What has a federal government agency done for me (that i use) my entire life?

Interstate I-95, a big shitty congested road that runs from Miami to almost Canada.

But even the rest stops i hit along that road, are payed for/ran by the states.

Second part of your question. What will all the government workers do?

Stop being slack bitches (who basically don't work 2/3rds of the day)

Everyone knows a govt job is a cake walk/do nothing job. So I'm guessing they might have to get a job where work is involved?

Our lives would all be better/cheaper with half the govt finding new jobs.

cykoe6 01-12-2008 11:50 AM

I believe that Ron Paul is a decent and principled man and I strongly agree with about half of what he says (limited government and personal freedoms) but his opinions on economics and foreign policy are insanely stupid and naive (his unrealistic, utopian isolationism and his ridiculous paranoia about the Federal Reserve). I wish there was candidate who truly believed in limited government and individual freedom without being completely outlandish on these other issues.

I agree that the economy and foreign policy are important, I was arguing the topic of states rights. You yourself said, "That is the whole fucking point of the states! They are seperate states so they have their own rules and power etc, right now there might aswell be no states."

I made my case as to why having too much states rights could be bad then suddenly you tell me it isn't about that so much. I thought Ron Paul was for freedom. I make a point where maybe people's freedom could be restricted and suddenly that's not so important? Interesting.

Let me get this straight. Are you suggesting that it is better for us to be individual states rather than one union?

The prez would have ultimate power over the states, he is just proposing to give them more control so I doubt anything that bad as you mentioned would happen.

Ha ha, nice word play. I dont think he mentioned the states breaking away from the united states. Whats implied is that states should have the power to give the people a say on their rights, which the federal gov does not do at this point. Just ask him...

If I may interject here,

"Rouge" is actually French for "red", pronounced ROOJE.

The actual word some of you are so feebly scrambling in the dark for is Rogue

Main Entry: rogue
Pronunciation: \ˈrōg\
Function: noun
Etymology: origin unknown
Date: 1561
1 : vagrant tramp
2 : a dishonest or worthless person : scoundrel
3 : a mischievous person : scamp
4 : a horse inclined to shirk or misbehave
5 : an individual exhibiting a chance and usually inferior biological variation
? roguˇish \ˈrō-gish\ adjective
? roguˇishˇly adverb
? roguˇishˇness noun
