What type of music do you want around the pool at the phx forum?

We are trying to get an idea of what to put on our playlists for the music by the pool, and we want to get a good selection for everybody

I won't be attending, but if I were I'd say death metal. Nothing gets the business mojo flowing like death metal.

why do you have to have music? its a business function not spring break. At the atl one the music was too loud, by Sat my voice was gone.

tony, i assure you we will not discriminate...we will accommodate those who require utter quiet to conduct business as well as those that require talking in front of a speaker at the club and everything in between...

I have a difficult time speaking with people in loud areas... particularly clubs... but music by the pool in Phoenix was never really an issue. It created a "fun" vibe. It's 3-4 days... every moment does not need to be "business", some of the best business can be done when you are relaxing by the pool having a nice cold beer on a scorching hot day.

Sly 03-23-2009 09:23 PM

I would do a mix of reggae, a little blues (BB King can give you a nice real setting, I think,) maybe some sort of funk... something like Femi Kuti could be sort of fun.

I would stay away from pop and hip-hop personally... you get enough of that at the clubs at night.

Randomonium 03-24-2009 01:27 AM

People want a little music to give add to the audio aesthetics, but not take focus away from the conversations & networking etc.

What you want is called

Downtempo or Chill

Some examples

http://somafm.com/play/lush

http://somafm.com/play/groovesalad

While this may not be the type of music that people want when they want the music to be the center of attention, it's the kind of music to enhance the experience without being a distraction.

Katy Perry: I kissed a girl (And I liked it)

On loop.

Otherwise I agree with the death metal suggestion.. Although id like something on the melodic side to keep me thinking, or the tech death metal for the same reason.

Opeth
Gojira
The Faceless
All Shall Perish

But on a serious note.. Id say either hip hop / RnB or light techno (I REALLY dig Kuba, he does chillout ambient stuff.. really good, really relaxing and it doesn't have to be loud to sound good)

I would ask Steve PP, he'll make sure half of the people will get a heart attach and half will leave earlier.
