To Succeed in Adult Online 2009...

Your thoughts on this interesting discussion I have been engaging in recently.... In 2009 to make a decent return, or money, in adult online you need the following.

1. Superior Content.
2. Superior Traffic.
3. Niche.
4. Diversity.
5. Luck.

I've been giving serious thought to the idea of offering free soup with every paid sign-up.

In hard times, it's usually just doing the simple things right that keep you successful.

People often think that in hard times you have to reinvent the wheel and come up with wacky new ideas, but honestly the time to reinvent the wheel is during boom times. Focus on a quality product, giving the customer what they want and can't get anywhere else, and promote it the best you can and you will do just fine.

I think that is sort of what you are saying, I just put a little spin on it.

And as the old saying goes, I'd rather be lucky than good any day of the week. :)

Piss off back to your theadultbiz.

qxm 05-02-2009 10:46 PM

To succeed in the adult biz I need:

1. A work ready environment (working on it)
2. 8-10 hours a day of serious work without having friends, family or the annoying telemarketer disrupting my schedule (fucking hard to accomplish)
3. A serious amount of Redbull + Beer (in stock)
4. SuccesssSS!!!! (+ a very intriguing headache ...)

Same applies in mainstream as well :)

6. Content security. Working on better ways to deliver content to customers while attempting to prevent it from being stolen...ie DRM
7. Cost cutting. Find ways to reduce overhead without sacrificing quality.
8. Quit partying so much. :disgust

You need to give it up.

Too many complaints and excuses.

Yes, and the billing descriptor will be "ATM FEE"

SteveHardeman 05-03-2009 09:29 AM

Time - No matter how good your shit is, you need time to build up traffic, sales and rebills.

Cash - Because of part 1 above, you need cash to get you thru this time.

In all honesty the whole thing about "thinking outside the box", "bigger better mousetrap" and "adapt or die" is sort of all BS. The few people who manage do any of that can hit it big or fail miserably. The rest of us just sort of work at what is working and make money that way. Boom times are easier. I have often thought a person should make their cash just following booms.

BV 05-03-2009 11:19 AM

Well Cyber Claire has been here so all that smart stuff has naturally already been said.

Otherwise, Fuzebox knows.

Now we just need Markham to come in for the content side.

You all seem to forget about the philosopher stone in marketing...
"You may not like my methods, but you'll surely know my name!"

You know that Coca Cola and Pepsi exist, but you are probably not aware of buzz cola, tab and lots of more drinks that are exactly the same or very similar to coca cola or pepsi. Not to mention that you probably wouldn't even know where to buy anything else than coca cola or pepsi... Think about that :)
