You know, if I ever committed suicide I think I would head to the most populated place around here I could find,... Just so I fucked up a bunch of people's day..

Do not do just that.

Rent a hot air ballon. Fly it solo. As you approach the major public gathering proceed to put on a noose and hop off the side. Let everyone see you hang yourself twitching off into the sunset - plus then they can figure out how best to get you down in some "respectable" manner.

..or do it at a burger king, that way you ruin every ones lunch too

This subject is tasteless, but especially so since there was a suicide this past week on the staff of a major program and there are probably a lot of viewers still mourning the loss of their friend and co-worker. :2 cents:

I couldnt do it in cold blood, I would do it robbing a bank or something, the only reason I have suicidal thoughts is the extreme poverty I life in

You know, I find it funny that you tell someone that the subject is tasteless because apparently someone from a major company committed suicide... yet nobody knew about it but you... maybe for it to be TRULY tasteless, the community should have been notified?

i think the opposite. if you've decided you're done... then its selfish of me to stop you for doing what you feel is best for you. who am i to tell you to live an empty life of misery and suffering just so i don't have to feel bad that you topped yourself?

suicide, at its core, is getting a bad rap by selfish people.

okay, but it's not you telling me to not go over the edge - it's me, 'cause I know there are people I will hurt for life because what I've done. If you feel that way you probably aren't that close, so neither you neither I give a damn.

i think you in a way are right, those who do commit suicide are so hung up on how much their lives suck and how much emotional agony they have to live with.
they dont have the "surplus" to see how much they mean to other people and how they have helped other people when needed..
it other words the life of a suicidal person is only worthless in their own eyes, not by others perspective and certainly not by the greater "whole" of cohabitants of their community.

what i meant was more that peoples sense of loss is also a selfish emotion. other people valuing someones life is also a selfish emotion.

as human beings, the vast majority of our motives behind our thoughts and feelings and relationships with others are driven by selfish needs. if someone is schizophrenic, hearing voices and lives every day in absolute terror.. (as an example) it would be extremely selfish of others not to understand or support his wanting to end it.

you don't want someone you care about to die because of how that will make YOU feel... YOU will feel a sense of loss. YOU will grieve. YOU will be reminded that life is temporary and YOU will be reminded of your own mortality and you are arguing about how it makes OTHERS feel. all of that totally ignores what the individual who is dying wants, how he feels, whether or not he's suffering and so on. All that ignores the simple logic that it might have been the best solution. that the person is no longer suffering or even the simple fact that his/her life was her own to live or not live.

i'm not saying either side is right or wrong. i'm simply saying that the arguments against suicide and particularly that its selfish, ignores the simply fact that the argument itself is also rooted in selfishness and selfish motives.

Killing others at the same time, is for attention.
