TheSenator 09-12-2009 11:36 PM

Ever since I upgrade to 3.5.3 FireFox. I have been getting re-directs to some spyware cure site.

Anyway, get on a Linux machine and record the actions. It should give you a better picture of what is going on.

SleazyDream 09-12-2009 11:42 PM

now this is FUCKED UP - now the bookmark is listing as Mature Post - and I KNOW the owner of Mature Post would have nothing to do with this...

i think my computer has a virus

AsianDivaGirlsWebDude 09-12-2009 11:43 PM

ProG 09-12-2009 11:45 PM

a) No wal-ware would bookmark random porn sites.

b) Firefox is notorious for screwing up bookmark icons.

c) Use Chrome :)

Agent 488 09-12-2009 11:48 PM

i tried it and it bookmarked lumberjack links. maybe a firefox issue.

Holly 09-12-2009 11:54 PM

Are you saying it's just your favicon that's wrong, or is the url actually pointing somewhere else?

Iron Fist 09-12-2009 11:54 PM

You sure it isn't bookmarking gay sites?

just the favicon

fris 09-13-2009 12:05 AM

favicon is cached

Yeah. Sometimes the browser will pull the wrong favicon from the cache. As long as the url is correct, I doubt it's a virus.

WWC 09-13-2009 12:22 AM

Are you sure? Or your pulling a nice publicity stunt ;-)

Or its on your computer...someone installed a nice script ...thats what happens when you download to much shit.....

no joke, it's happening

Atominder 09-13-2009 12:34 AM

what's your FF version?

WiredGuy 09-13-2009 12:38 AM

If its just in FF and not IE, it sounds like a caching issue. If it was a virus or adware, it would take over all requests over all browsers, not just FF.

firefox has issues man. an affiliate program i have a toolbar bookmark for is showing the google icon instead. its sort of frustrating. i deleted and readded and still the same thing. i believe its a problem with firefox because i dont have a virus.

HorseShit 09-13-2009 03:17 AM

run ccleaner and delete the cache
then run a antivirus scan on all files

I believe cccleaner is the reason it fucked it up. although i cant be sure. registry cleaning programs can really fuck shit up sometimes. i refuse to use them more than once every three months. recently and instead of ccleaner ive used the normal disk cleanup located under accessories/system tools/
