Singapore - a great place to be in.
The prettiest city I've seen in my life! It's like Asia for millionaires or something... Every building is uniques and looks like a billion dollar architecture experiment. Crime is almost non-existent. If Thailand is a hostel, Singapore is a five star hotel. A must visit for everyone :thumbsup

Sentosa Beach was always fun to go to on the weekends!
The 35 minute bus rides to JB Malaysia were fun! |

I've stayed at the Pan Pacific (background of the first photograph). One of the best hotels I've ever been to. The food in the restaurant at the top was incredible.

I lived there for about a year. perfect place to raise a family, etc everything is perfectly organized and extremly convinient. To me the great thing as also how easy it is to travel from there to anywhere else in SEAsia or China, lots of cheap flights, great airport, perfact base to explore the region.
Only downside to me was that it always felt a bit fake/artificial/too new (I'm from Europe), still loved my time there and would easily go back. |
btw, do you realize that in singapore pornography is ilegal but prostitution is legal?

There was a Mexican place on the Boat Quay. I'm not sure if it's still there because I haven't been in 15 years. They had fantastic food though.

I lived in SG for a few years and agree it is one of the best places to live. Downside (for me but not for anybody else) is the weather. Its right on the equator, so there are no seasons and hot all the year round.
As far as the "strict laws" are concerned, if you are not breaking any, why do you care? |

I really enjoyed drinking Singapore Slings at Raffles, eating Indian food in Little India, and visiting the Box (WWII British Command HQ).
Nice place to hang for a while and would gladly put on short list of retirement options. |
Little India is a shithole and the Geylang district is a putrid shithouse. Singaporeans have some sort of superiority complex over other SE Asians and resent the fuck out of westerners. It's hotter than shit. I can think of 20 different cities in Asia I would rather live in.... but maybe because I am not a shopper I feel this way.
Hong Kong +1 Shanghai +1 Xiamen +1 Tokyo +1 Seoul +1 Kyoto +1 even fucking Bali is better than Singapore |

If you live in SE Asia, Singapore is kinda like the perfect "Western fix". Head there for a few days to get your fix, then back to your life.

Little India is a bit dated. I like the Roti Prata down there, delicious. Come to think of it, I dig almost all of the food in Singapore. :thumbsup
