Fox News paid experts call Global Warming a "Hoax" - yet today is LA's hottest day in history...
LOS ANGELES (AP) ? The National Weather Service says downtown Los Angeles has recorded an all-time record high of 113 degrees as a heat wave bakes California.
Weather forecaster Stuart Seto says the record high was reached about 15 minutes after noon Monday. The old record was 112 degrees on June 26, 1990. California has been in the grip of a heat wave since high pressure built over the West late last week.... http://www.usatoday.com/weather/news...nia-heat_N.htm |
Wow...
1 degree warmer than it was 20 years ago huh... :sleep |
Weather events do not prove (or disprove) climate change.
That said, my spare time is spent with scientists surveying in the field the effects of climate changes and pollution on keystone species. Very scary how rapidly species are expanding, declining and moving based upon their tolerance. |
Hi failure. Has anyone come out and said who you are yet?

Yet 2 hours south, San Diego recorded its coolest summer in 70 years. Trying to make your point by picking and choosing isolated incidents is ignorant.
|
|
i believe the argument is whether or not the current climate changes are man-made or not.

Paid experts? Paid by who?
|
las vegas had it's hottest summer on record in 2010

"Global warming" has a word "global" in it. Global means everywhere. I.e. over all the surface, including oceans. Which means increased vaporization => humid warm climate all over the globe. Like in a rainforest.
Instead you have spikes of heat and cold extremums here and there. Local environment screw ups can be a reason for that. Chop a big forest nearby, dry a big bog and you will have much more noticeable local weather changes than from increased solar activity or global air pollution. |
Faux News...what can you say.
|
It's not Fox News it's... 31k scientists... and a whole lot more people that actually study this shit you know... for a living. Not for, an agenda (no matter what side you're on)
"31,487 American scientists have signed this petition, including 9,029 with PhDs" Yes, you can get a list and verify to your heart's content: http://www.petitionproject.org/ Here's the thing though it doesn't even FUCKING MATTER because any way you slice it we should be reducing our emissions across the board. There's just no reason not to create a cleaner planet... and it's coming! And not because of any amount of fucking laws or regulations or bills passed to ban INCANDESCENT FUCKING LIGHT BULBS or additional taxes on power consumption (particularly non renewable energy sources), or any of that bullshit. It's coming because technology is reaching a point where it's economically feasible to create solutions which consumers can actually afford. I would argue that the additional taxes imposed on the energy industries (and for any industry for that matter) is nothing but a tax on the consumers themselves. The cost is always passed on to the consumer, and since markups are so often percentage based... you get the idea. Taxing the hell out of an industry doesn't do much good; it only generates more revenue for the government from the pockets of its constituents. Maybe they should note that the very industry they are taxing has more vested in alternative energy sources than just about anyone else... Chevron researches biodiesel from algae, shit even BP drops almost $1B a year in research of alternate fuels... |

Warmers and Democrats are once again getting overheated by their own propaganda
Over 30,000 scientists signed a petition urging the United States to reject the Kyoto agreement, stating: There is no convincing scientific evidence that human release of carbon dioxide, methane, or other greenhouse gases is causing, or will, in the foreseeable future, cause catastrophic heating of the Earth?s atmosphere and disruption of the Earth?s climate. Moreover, there is substantial scientific evidence that increases in atmospheric carbon dioxide produce many beneficial effects upon the natural plant and animal environments of the Earth. http://mensnewsdaily.com/2010/07/18/...lobal-warming/ So SlutBoat still wears the coveted banner of "SHIT FOR BRAINS" at least coveted by him it appears |

from yahoo: Re: The Global Warming Petition Project. How many eligible people haven't signed it? If I lived in America I would be able to sign it as a result of my degree in engineering! Yet I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole! There must be tens of millions of Americans who are qualified to sign this, yet so few (31000) have done so! Surely, given the ammount of publicity it has had and the ease of supporting it, if this view was widely held among qualifying people the numbers would be much higher! Doesn't this petition reflect the truth that the skeptics are a very small minority among "qualified" people? Dana1981 That's really the key question, because all the 'skeptics' are getting out of this is that wow, 31,000 is a big number! If just 10% of the population has these degrees (a reasonable estimate), then the Oregon Petition constitutes 0.1% of the scientific degree population. Besides which, who cares what some random guy who got a BS in biology 30 years ago thinks about global warming? I know lots of people with BS degrees, and a lot of them know diddly squat about global warming. Having a BS degree does not make you informed on the subject. The Oregon Petition is a joke. It was a joke the first time around, when they had such notable names as "Dr. Geri Haliwell" (Spice Girl). Twice. It was so bad they had to come out with this second version, but they kept the same ridiculous criteria. It's just stupid. The only hoax is that this list means anything. |

from wiki -http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oregon_Petition
The term "scientists" is often used in describing signatories; however, many of the signatories have degrees in engineering or medicine, including veterinary medicine. The distribution of petitions was relatively uncontrolled: those receiving the petition could check a line that said "send more petition cards for me to distribute". HAHAHA Auto Mechanics and Veterinarians are signing this bogus petition!!! You brainwashed FOX FUCKS are so fucking retarded its astounding! |

Do you realize how stupid you just made yourself look dude...Statistically - 1 full degree (if that were the actual average increase) happens to be a HUGE increase, but your tiny brains can't grasp that concept can they... Scientists have established that the current episode of global warming of about 0.7 degrees Celsius (1.2 degrees Fahrenheit) in the last century has pushed Earth’s temperatures up to levels unprecedented in recent history. A 2007 report by the Nobel Peace Prize-winning UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) states that at no time in the past 1,300 years has our planet been as warm as it is now, while records from the deep sea suggest that temperatures are now within a degree of their highest levels in 1 million years. According to the IPCC, Earth will warm up between 1.4 degrees Celsius and 5.8 degrees Celsius (roughly 2 degrees Fahrenheit to 10 degrees Fahrenheit) by the end of this century. Six degrees may not sound like much, but as this sobering and engrossing book warns, such a rise in average temperature would be enough to destroy much of life and reshape our world almost beyond recognition. ScienceDaily (July 20, 2001) — BOULDER -- There's a nine out of ten chance that global average temperatures will rise 3-9 degrees Fahrenheit over the coming century, with a 4-7 degree increase most likely, according to a new probability analysis by scientists in the United States and England. The most likely projected increase is five times the one-degree temperature rise observed over the past century. As early as 2030 the planet is likely to heat up 1-2 degree, say the scientists. The study appears in the July 20 issue of the journal Science. |

with that said, i do believe that we are eventually going to put our planet in a state that the earth will no longer be able to sustain life on this planet.. how long that will take is the question... but hey, lets make this an issue about democrats and republicans and totally miss the debate on whether or not we should be addressing environmental issues.. i am happy to see al gores attempt at the whole carbon credit thing being shot down by scientists though.. it (carbon trading) is one of the biggest scams ever attempted... . |

Yup 2010 so far also the hottest in recorded record in Australia. 10-15 years ago I used to have 1 if not 2 blankets + a doona on my bed in winter, it used to get cold... Now it's like 3, maybe 4 days of cold, the rest of the time days are very warm and I only have a doona covering my bed.
The science is out there, but conservatives would rather believe a bible than empirical scientific evidence which 97% of climate scientists believe. They'd rather believe oil companies instead of environmental scientists. They'd rather believe in conspiracy theories and say that scientists want to prove global warming because they have financial interests in it. What a bunch of fucking morons. |

the problem with human beings is that we can only look at things that relate to time in terms that we can understand.. meaning that humans have a hard time looking forward or backwards more than a few hundred years.. the truth is that the earth has had climatic change that resulted in catastrophic extinction of thousands if not millions of species.. we have no idea since we are constantly finding evidence of life we did not know existed.. is what we are seeing one of those climatic cycles that will lead to catastrophic extinction? who knows, but i find it interesting how humans have a hard time imagining earth wihtout them inhabiting it when the facts show that human beings are just a blip in the timeline of the earth's life... i used to believe in global warming, but know i think it is just a normal earth cycle or maybe the future end of the earths life.. i may change my opinion, but for know, this is what i believe... if people really want to do something to impact the environment, they should start worrying about the path we are on to extincting our oceans fish and subsequently killing our oceans.. that is going to have a more profound effect and will happen in the next 40 years if not corrected and that is a FACT... . |

Go read up on the subject. Scientist studying ice core samples from the Artic and Antarctic will disagree with you and give you the proof you're wrong. Global warming is happening, whether you like it or not. All the evidence is pointing to one thing. The Earth is getting warmer. The cause is in dispute, man made, natural or a combination of both. All those screaming it ain't happening will be screaming why nothing was done about it in 40-50 years time. Or their kids will. They're scared they will have to give up driving around in their SUVs. |
One thing that's useful when talking about Global Warming, is to look back at the original Club of Rome (a premier international think tank) report on to how to unite the world under a One World Government i.e. The UN. They said was important to find an enemy that was an enemy to every country, so as we could all fight against it and be united.
Back in 1992 they published a major report entitled " The First Global Revolution" . Here is a quote from that report, " in searching for a new enemy to unite us, we came up with the idea that pollution, the threat of global warming, water shortages, famine, and the like would fit the bill" . Here is another quote from " The First Global Revolution". , " It would seem that humans need a common motivation, namely a common adversary to organize and act together in the vacuum; such a motivation must be found to bring the divided nations together to face an outside enemy, either a real one or else one imagined for this purpose". The Club of Rome works with the United Nations to develop Policy Guidance Documents, which the U.N. uses in creating its policies and programs. Here is a link and don't forget to read the partial list of members of The Club Of Rome, it is very interesting and not surprising. http://green-agenda.com/globalrevolution.html |
