We really started pushing the board in Jan2001 after the launch party at Internext that year.

I lurked for the first few years here after the board was initially launched. In 2005 I decided to join as it really began to grow into a great place to conduct a lot of business around that time and sort of aggregated many of us who were members of other boards.

GFY has always had its share of tirekickers, lowballers, wannabes, and surfers, but by 2004/2005, the demographic of GFY was far and away more conducive to conducting business among your peers and with those serious about doing business. However, each year since, the demographic seems to continually be a shift more towards the surfers, non-industry people and the typical lowballers/tirekickers. Certainly there are a lot more hobbyists these days than in previous years.

I find a lot of the more serious players here do their business behind closed doors, emails, phone calls and messengers versus posting publicly. I know for myself, 95% of my business dealings directly related to GFY are done off the boards and out of public view.

I think that is mostly due to the shift in dynamic of the board itself these past few years. It'll be interesting how things change, if at all, now that Playboy/Adult.com no longer has anything to do with this place.

My date of destiny was before logging on to watch all you assholes bitch, stood away for a year and finally logged on then got deported and now back. Life is fun!

I think there was more than that, but it's hard to tell how many were BP.

Terms of quality members, I think we upgraded! Sure, no one remembers me but remember some of you I know on this site, some people never actually changed except the usual face-lift on this site.

Tanker hit me up right after the board went live, before I came to work with all those nuts. I had known Wizzo and Tanker for a while from the old PC board.

Now 4 or 5 nick names and here we are!

Man the ride has been a blast that is for sure!

RAM joined in January and yours says July? I wasn't around in January but I agree with your figures of around 300 - 400 (or more) towards the end of 01.

This place is still the best out there, but it's nothing like it was. It was the Wild Wild West around here back in the day.
