Obama speech tonight...

Its never good to talk politics or religion anywhere - but thats everywhere else :P

Obamas speech was good today - he definately is going to piss off some rich corporations by tightening up the "tax loop holes" as he exclaims. He sounds like Robin Hood stealing from the rich and giving to the poor lol. Either way, was a good speech in my opinion....

mattz 09-08-2011 07:09 PM

It was decent I agree, the first I watched in awhile.

directfiesta 09-08-2011 07:53 PM

...aaaand .. that's all folks....

Now, back to our regular programming : Bashing Barack HUSSEIN Obama ...

raymor 09-08-2011 07:55 PM

Anything new? To me it sounded like more of what's he's been doing the last two and a half years. I heard him boldly propose more FAIL. Did I miss something?

2MuchMark 09-08-2011 08:32 PM

I watched his speech tonight and thought it was excellent. First he did a great job laying out his plan, but he also did another great job winning the hearts and minds of some republicans to his side. If watch closely, the republicans are the ones not standing and clapping at everything he said. But near the end, the whole room was applauding the man.

Watching the Tan Man Bohner squirm was fun. He was clearly pissed off, and looked like a complete fucking asshole not even giving passing applause while Joe Biden (and the rest of the room) stood up and clapped "Education for kids! Jobs for our War Vets! Rebuilding the infrastructure" were all met by cheers by EVERYONE in the room except for fuckface Bohner. What a tool.

amateurcanada 09-08-2011 08:36 PM

Was a good job laying out his plan despite it being a kick in some peoples faces - he obviously is making his agenda strong and so he should as his term is slowly approaching end. Haha I did notice Bohner - agreed on that!

I watched it with my kids to show them the insidious nature of politics and liars.
Even my kids understood the class warfare lies he trotted out

And what would you propose? More tax cuts for rich people, cut welfare completely and give more money to Israel?

Will your poor kids falsely believe they are really rich too?

Daddy's school of delusions. :1orglaugh

Poor kids :Oh crap

so what did the porch monkey say

NetHorse 09-08-2011 09:27 PM

All of his speeches are good, they were since day one. Unfortunately rhetoric, talk, playing the blame game and astronomical spending don't equate to the solution.

Sounded like his 2009 speech all over again, another failed proposal to spend hundreds of billions of dollars to put people to work.

#1 on my list would be to cut down on the hundreds of hours of government paperwork required for a small businesses (or any businesses) to operate legally. I spend maybe 10% of my time on BS government paperwork. Cutting that in half for all businesses would be an instant jump in gdp.

We have a three person operation. We're required to file federal income tax four times per year. Unemployment tax four times per year. Business census yearly. Local business taxes for where our offices are and seperately for the city where kyte severs are. Business personal property tax, listing the values of our desks, chairs, and monitors. Sales tax four times per year. Franchise tax each year. Now more forms to prove we have acceptable health insurance. Need I go on?

We could increase our work force by a third if we could just file taxes twice per year instead of twenty times. All the time spend on hundreds of pages of forms could be spent training and supervising a new employee. That creates jobs.

This is a president who campaigned on "going after corporations".
I couldn't friggin believe it when I heard him actually say that on his radio commercial. BetterCGI is a corporation. Gfy is run by a corporation. Your hosting company is a corporation, as are most of your local businesses that could be providing jobs if this president wasn't campaigning on the promise of "going after" them. My better idea? Get off our backs rather than "going after" businesses that are trying to grow and hire people.

I actually had to let an employee go the other day because the darn government won't get the paperwork done. You have to file n( sooner than 30 days ahead, but it takes them 60 days to do the paperwork. So I have to fire him for at least 30 days while we wait for the government. Fix that overregulation and that's a job right here in this office right now.

Pick one, there must be 20 of them out there floating around for you to read that have been proposed over over the past 2 years, 7 months, 21 days.

Barry has had 963 days to come up with something and the best he can do is muster up a deja vu speech from 2009 that involves spending another $447 billion.

This guy feeds you shit sandwiches and you smile while eating them.

Gouge 09-08-2011 10:26 PM

Since taking office, President Barack Obama has signed into law twenty-one new or higher taxes:

Tax More Spend More for Barack "Hussein" Obama II.

I do agree with you on the filing issue, having to get all that shit together every 3 months and pay an accountant is a drain of both time and money. I think the whole tax code should be scrapped for something much simpler but I don't see that happening anytime soon. As far as 'going after corporations' I don't believe he ever made such a blanket statement, I believe his intention was to go after corporations that arent paying any taxes and closing loopholes. If I'm wrong point me in the right direction.

seeric 09-08-2011 10:28 PM

Nothing is going to happen. American government is and has been broken for decades if not centennials.

Can you imagine if you tried to run a business like these idiots do? A conglomerate of bafoons equally opposed to the other sides ideologies. Constantly fighting and affecting the product in negative ways. In this case, the American dream is the product.

Every bit of energy and time spent arguing and fighting is a fragment of forward momentum necessary to the recovery of the economy and the restoration if the American dream stolen from the people they are paid by. There should be no tolerance of this nonsense.

They should all be fired. Every single one of them.

Start over.

You want to talk about entitlements. My best friend was fired when he told the boss to shove it. He waited until was close to the six month on unemployment, then started looking for a job. Right about them Obama decided you can collect unemployment for two years, so he sat on his ass for another 18 months while you and I paid his bills. When he was close to the two year limit, he went out and got a job. Tonight Obama proposed letting people like my friend sit on their asses for three solid years while you and I have to pick up the slack. That worked great the last time Obama did that, didn't it.

I would have fallen out my chair if I wasn't buckled in when I heard that on the radio special he played in Texas. I had to listen carefully the more times to be sure I heard it right. I knew Obama, who has never worked a day in his life for a business, secretly disliked business, but I was suprised he would say it flat out in his own commercial. Sure, I wasn't too suprised when he said the government has "management responsibilities" of private businesses, but I didn't expect him to straight out say he was coming after us.

I don't know of any place you can collect unemployment if you're fired for telling your boss to shove it.

Yes because fixing crumbling bridges, roads and dams is a BAD idea. Let's just wait until they all completely fall apart. Much cheaper that way. Bet you didn't know many of the bridges you drive over are 20 or more years past their expected lifespan.

There is no exaggeration as to facts involved on that site, its directly from the IRS and very much common knowledge.

Class warfare is the tension or antagonism which exists in society due to competing socioeconomic interests between people of different classes.

Texas is one place. I've had reason to read up on this alot, really studying the government rules. That's because if the state pays unemployment to a former employee, I have to pay the state back by way of extra charges on my unemployment taxes. You're disqualified only for misconduct of a criminal type nature or intentionally damaging the company. I have to pay unemployment even if an employee just stops showing up unless I can prove they knew they could stol come back to work.

That's new? Obama said those projects were "shovel ready" in 2009 and we each gave him $3,000 to do that. Was he lying in 2009 when he said he was going to do it then? What did he do with our trillion dollars?

I'm pretty sure that's not new, but "more of the same". I'm also pretty sure that if we give him another half trillion he won't fix any more bridges than he did in 2009. Maybe the "new" part is that THIS time he won't give bridge repair money to the renamed ACORN?

Actually, even before Obama said he was going to spend all if that money on road and bridge maintenance, the department of transportation already had a $65 billion budget. The US DOT has been doing roads and bridges since 1967. So what's new? Anything different from 2009 or even 1967?

kane 09-08-2011 11:27 PM

It doesn't matter what Obama put forth. The Republicans announced that they were opposed to it before they even knew what it was. If Obama is smart he will put these ideas of his out in small parts. There are things that both sides likely agree on and he could easily get passed then they can fight over the stuff they don't agree on. However, likely what will happen is that nothing will happen. The republicans have stated time and again that their number 1 priority is getting Obama out of office. Even if they succeed at that they likely will not win the senate and there are some experts who say they are in danger of actually losing seats in the house. Do they think an angry, democrat controlled senate will just go along with whatever they want and even if they do, well, things worked out swimmingly last time the republicans were in power.

I don't see any end to this gridlock any time soon and I don't think any plan put forth by either party is really going to help that much.

Mark Cuban once said that the economy of this country is stronger than any one political party. We have to hope that he is correct and over time it can right itself because clearly there is no help coming from Washington.

Make no mistake. We the people are on our own.

Typical response from you. However badly Obama fucks up our economy and his inability to deliver is OK because 'look at what Bush did'.

Don't worry, when the economy is even worse than it is now he will give another great speech and sure enough, have someone else to blame.

What happened last time is that money just got tossed around and was never really properly designated for. The Daily Show had a woman on whose job it was to follow where all the stimulus spending went. She resigned when the process got so convoluted that she could no longer follow it. There was a city in Oklahoma that was giving a few million dollars supposedly for a "seaport" renovation. I'm not a scholar, but last time I checked Oklahoma was not on the sea. What became of that money nobody seems to know.

In theory if this money actually puts people to work and gets them out there doing these jobs it isn't a terrible way to spend money, but I won't be holding my breath.

raymor 09-08-2011 11:38 PM

Btw I think I was mistaken. Obamas radio ad wasn't the "go after corporations" line, he said that somewhere else. In the radio ad he promised to double tax small businesses just as large corporations are double taxed. (The business and it's owners both pay taxes on the same income.)

Bush and Obama were simply bad choices for president.

Granted, the economy was growing quite slowly when Bush left office. People thought we might be headed toward recession. Obama turned slow growth into negative growth, actual recession.

Republicans preventing him from doing his job, eh? Ok, so you realize he hasn't ben doing his job. Do you also realize that for his first two years DEMOCRATS corralled the house, the senate, and presidency. They controlled EVERYTHING. Repuicans couldn't even bring a bill to the floor until a few months ago when they took the House.
Think about that. Democrats had complete control and Obama didn't do his job. He was just a bad pick. Republicans about they made a bad pick with Bush. Democrats should have enough intellectual honesty to admit Obama was a poor choice.

Powell should have been the historic first black president, perhaps.

Gouge 09-08-2011 11:48 PM

The $800 billion stimulus bill from 2009 added somewhere from 1 million to 2.9 million jobs, and kept the unemployment rate from climbing as much as 1.6 percentage points higher. I cant wait to see what the new $447 billion program does for the 14 million that are still out of work and broke.

The republicans just arrived in the House a few months ago.
What's his excuse for his first two years of utter failure, when the democrats had complete control of the House, the Senate, and presidency?

It's like calling in an exterminator for a rat problem, then when he gets there you blame the exterminator for the problem. The republicans just got there, sent by the voters to clean up the mess!
