Fearful of Ban, Frenzied Gun Nuts Swarm Gun Stores

It's all about fear. Fear = $$$ for the gun industry.

People are afraid of crime and violence - so they buy guns.

Crime and violence make fearful people fear they won't be able to buy guns - so they buy guns.

Is it any wonder the corporate media "news" feeds the population with a steady diet of violent stories? A frightened audience is a captive audience. And when you're the military-industrial-infotainment complex - it's good for business.

The NRA is surely hoping for more massacres. Each mass killing is Christmas day for them.

What a poignant and frightening statement on the times we live in. A society where we put bulletproof panels in our children's knapsacks in the hopes it'll help them survive at school.

It feels weird that within the last century, people could safely leave their front doors unlocked while they were out pretty much without worry. Wonder what it was like.

How dare you accuse the gun lobby of using the tragedies to further its cause? Gun CONTROL nuts use tragedy EVERY DAY and gun control advocates have a river of blood flowing over their hands. Period.

But let's just let these assholes go into a kill at will situation and murder who ever they want for hours at a time instead of stopping them.

Let's be completely defenseless because it's "for the children" and "guns are baaaad, mmmkay"

Some would have you believe that in a world like that, there would be nothing but criminals since they could still, even then, get guns if they REALLY wanted to.

They didn't though, because they weren't faced with a gun crazed and fearful citizenry. They could just punch you and take your wallet. These days they're afraid you are carrying a glock so they make sure to carry one too. And yeah, I really believe that. Because no matter how scared a mom and pop are, a criminal knows he's going to be getting into a struggle so he arms himself. Shame some don't understand the slope they're sliding down. Oh well.

Yeah.. it was nice to not feel like you had to lock your door.

If the current mentality continues...impossible to imagine.

Kids having to be home-schooled by parents fearful of their safety. Barbed wire fences around schools (compounds) with trained armed guards in sentry towers...metal detectors.

Quoted for Truth.

Robbie 01-01-2013 06:39 PM

Pretty sure the gun sales didn't go up because the NRA "used" a tragedy.

Gun sales are through the roof because gun control advocates began talking about banning weapons after the tragedy. And when the President made a couple of remarks hinting at it...the gun sales went through the roof.

President Obama has been the greatest thing for gun sales in history.

It always works like that. Make alcohol illegal...suddenly EVERYBODY wants a drink. Drugs illegal? More people want to try them.

The best way to make something more popular is to try and ban it. I remember when controversial books were labeled "Banned In Boston" when I was a kid (I have no idea why they chose "Boston") and that book would be a Number One Best Seller.

Hell, I'll bet people in New York are drinking MORE soda now that the mayor made it illegal to sell anything over a 16oz serving. lol

My father, an avid consumer of right-wing propaganda, recently started making noises about buying a gun.

I was like "Dad, blah blah on the politics. Probably the only things that will happen are a reinstatement of the assault weapons ban, and maybe a little tighter regulation. You should have one for home defense. If you're really serious about it, I'll help you."

I've lost count of how many times the right-wing screamers got him all worked up about something, then losing interest when they stopped screaming about it :1orglaugh

I see your reasoning, but Obama is the best thing to happen to gun manufacturers because the South went bananas when a black Democrat won the presidency. He never mentioned gun control until the latest horrifying massacre of 20 children - the fact that he did just gave the paranoid nuts another reason to hoard firearms. From the very beginning, just his presence drove the wackos even deeper into madness.

That's a point I made a while ago.

From the day obama was elected, the gun manufacturers' mouthpieces (the NRA, for example) were screaming that president blackenstein was out to get your guns.

The reality: there wasn't a single peep from the administration about guns. In the one presidential debate where gun control was brought up, both obama and romney just killed time and said nothing of any substance.

bronco67 01-01-2013 10:48 PM

You sure do lump tens of millions of people together in one big "crazy" package don't you?

You should really get out more and open your eyes. Just because half the country has different ideas and experiences than you do doesn't mean they are wrong or a "nut".

You're no different than the right wing pundits who refer to you as a left wing "extremist".

People are individuals. And most people who are as racist as you are stating are dirt poor rednecks living in the mountains. They can't even afford to buy a bunch of guns. lol

The gun "nuts" that you are referring to who buy lots of weapons are generally well educated and have enough disposable income to go to gun shows.

Are there people who are racists and own guns? Yes.

But the only people I ever hear talk about race are people like you who just keep on accusing other fellow Americans of racism. You and the clowns on MSNBC with their ridiculous "dog whistle" bullshit that they attach to EVERYTHING that a Republican says to gain political points.

When gun owners oppose common sense legislation such as background checks, waiting periods, and limiting anonymous online and gun show sales of high capacity guns and clips - they're GUN NUTS. It's not rational people clogging the gun stores in the wake of the latest massacre - it's paranoid gun nuts.

There USED to be a middle class who had good paying jobs, so there was no need for crime on mass.

It's not to say crime did not exist, but you now have a larger population and less well paying jobs. Which leads to a lot of the society's problems with crime. Sprinkle in the drugs, the media's sensationalism, and other social bullshit going on, and you have the madness of today.

The bigger the gap gets between the have's and have not's, the more you will see society tearing it's self apart until it finally snaps and forces some level of change. You can't have CEO's making 1000 times that of the worker, while the average Joe has to work 3 jobs just to afford to live and feed their family.

:2 cents:

6South 01-02-2013 11:42 AM

An industry so dependent on civil liberties and freedoms should be more supportive of other industries also dependent on those same liberties.

The same false arguments / tactics used by the gun ban crowd can be easily used on porn.
"Porn causes rape / pedophilia, etc, etc".
I'd think very carefully about supporting positions that can set those kinds of precedents. Sooner or later the ball will fly your way in that environment, I don't care what your personal issue of choice is.

The worst school massacre in US history was committed with a bomb. You could ban every gun in the country, crime will not go down and these kinds of horrible acts will continue to happen.

In Australia and the UK where guns were banned crime rose drastically. Home invasions have become extremely popular now that criminals don't have to worry about being shot. The criminals still have guns and the ones who don't use knives, tire irons, bricks, etc to commit armed robbery. Those crimes have also risen dramatically with the main difference being that more victims are seriously injured now from being stabbed and bludgeoned.

Wish for a gun ban in one hand and shit in the other, this is one issue the US public is not going to sit back and allow the Feds to roll over them on.

What fucking planet do you live on? We already have background checks for every weapon purchase, waiting periods in multiple states (as well as full blown gun bans regardless of constitutional compliance). Gun shows have the same requirements as any gun shop - a federal background check, valid ID, etc.

What people oppose are further bans and regulations that only affect legal, compliant gun owners.

Criminals do not buy their guns legally. They steal them or buy them illegally from someone else who stole them. Gun owners are sick and tired of endless legal hoops and regulations that have zero effect on crime.

This country really is stuffed full of sheep, easily led on whatever issue the TV is pushing. When all the added regulations and even full blown bans in various places make absolutely no difference in crime that should tell you something. No amount of regulation or banning will stop criminals, period.

The only group putting assault rifles into the hands of violent criminals en masse would be the ATF. Come up with a rational explanation for that one and then ask yourself why the Feds would want to ban guns. It's sure as hell not to reduce crime or stop mass murders.
