Who here doesn't own or drive a car ???

Loads of car threads pop up here over the years, but who doesn't actually drive ??

Sometimes i feel i don't even need a car anymore, but i don't think i could ever give it up. Even with the huge gas prices. :disgust

Anyone stopped because you work from home ?

Or have you just never taken a driving test before ?

In my city the cars are just useless. Because of this:

If you want to be somewhere in time, use metro.

MaDalton 02-25-2013 09:09 AM

i had two cars, sold them both cause i never drive

still have a company car that i can take if i really need to

purecane 02-25-2013 09:48 AM

i gave my truck to my son a year ago when he turned 17. then 2 weeks ago i sold my motorcycle to help my wife get a better vehicle. at the moment i have zero transportation....what to get next?????

geedub 02-25-2013 09:49 AM

Haven't owned a car for 7 years now.. I rent one if I need to use one, like a boss.

pornguy 02-25-2013 09:50 AM

We have 2. one for around town and the kid and my truck which is mostly for my dogs and hauling things. Wish I could do without but public transportation here is a pain in the ass.

shake 02-25-2013 09:55 AM

I can walk to a lot from my house and I like to bike, so we hardly use our cars these days.

Yeah i was wondering how many who work from home still bothered with a car and all the costs that come with it...

SirBunnz 02-25-2013 10:00 AM

Living in the middle of Amsterdam, its quicker to:

- take a pushbike
- take public transport
- walk

than drive and have to find parking!

Robbie 02-25-2013 10:03 AM

My guess would be:
GrantMercury and all the other guys on here who just keep on and on and on posting threads about how "rich" people are "bad" and we should raise taxes and "punish" corporations.

I had several cars but not anymore. Where i live it's totally useless to own a car. And i never need one anyway. If i ever move to another place i most likely will buy one again though.

v4 media 02-25-2013 10:05 AM

I dont. Lived in Central London, Then oldpart of Amsterdam, Then middle of Barca. So never got round to learning.

Now I live 1/2 way up a mountain, I really do need to learn.

Yeah you guys have it totally different from what we have here. People on bikes here are usually just targets for motorists. :1orglaugh:helpme

Each time i visit Amsterdam, within 10mins i've usually had a few close calls with the trams and people on bikes...Doh!

If they are useless how come hundreds of thousands of people own them? Are you saying there are such a huge concentration of retarded people in your city that they spend lots of money for useless thing?

AZNNC 02-25-2013 10:50 AM

I own 3 cars and combined put about 500 K/M a month on them. :1orglaugh

Cars are not just for going to work.
I prefer to use public transport for ecology reasons sometimes, but only when I have extra time because car get me to places faster.

This is why exactly they are useless. The traffic here is just stuck. I prefer to spend 10-20 minutes on metro instead of 3-4 hours in the car.

I believe the Hell must look somehow like that :2 cents:

xato 02-25-2013 11:11 AM

I drive 60'000 km - 100'000 km per year, have seen most of Europe by car and couldn't live without one.
That is of course, also partly because I have never lived in any bigger city, where there are better ways to get around.
I have also driven in Africa, North America, the UK (on the "wrong" side of the road :upsidedow) and Asia.
I love the freedom that comes with being "mobile". The ability to go anywhere at any particular time is probably the biggest reason why I can't imagine having no car.

SleazyDream 02-25-2013 11:18 AM

most of the trolls don't own a car

fuzebox 02-25-2013 11:31 AM

I live downtown, walk everywhere. Ran into some issues importing my car to Canada, and consequently haven't driven in four months. I miss it though, hopefully will be back on the road next week.

You must use public transport as well, in any bigger town/city downtown is pretty big to walk all the time, I mean you could walk for 20-30minutes to reach some other part of downtown. You have to slip in few trips with a bus or something.

SpicyM 02-25-2013 11:44 AM

Most of my friends live outside my town + I like travelling, small weekend trips etc. so I pretty much need one to get some fun. Fucked a lot on the backseat last year (she had her parents at home lol) , but I also love my car so I would not be albe to sell it. ;-)

2013 02-25-2013 11:47 AM

don't need a car in moms basement

Rochard 02-25-2013 11:47 AM

I rarely drive these days. I work from home.

I have a car but if I drive 2k miles a year that's a lot for me. It's nice really. Less hassle.

Downtown Vancouver isn't that big. Maybe the farthest point to the farthest point would take 25 minutes, but anywhere I go is within 10 minutes. I enjoy walking and am rarely in any kind of rush anyway. I do take the train to the airport when I fly though.

J. Falcon 02-25-2013 12:03 PM

I ride the bus.

I've got a friend that lived in Boston, now San Francisco and she hasn't owned a car in 20 years. Just rents one when she leave the city. No car cost, no maintenance, no insurance, no parking problems, etc. Makes sense.

How would you pick up ladies from their place for a dinner without a car? :winkwink:

Zeiss 02-25-2013 12:10 PM

I've never been to Russia so I don't know how it is done there, but does the Metro have its own streets so it can avoid such messes?

Antonio 02-25-2013 12:31 PM

I drive like three times per month if that

slapass 02-25-2013 12:41 PM

In the states, I have a car. In Brazil, I don't. It is so cool to just not worry about it. Also it works out cheaper in Rio but that is with a loss of freedom of course. Also I couldn't do it if I was working in the area at a job or business.

The metro is an underground or above ground train. Or at least that is my thoughts.

loreen 02-25-2013 01:20 PM

Taxi, train, bus.
Don't have / need / want a car :)

Ballers have a limo and driver :thumbsup

Some Guy 02-25-2013 01:45 PM

I ditched my 350z a few years ago when sales started to shit the bed. Now my girlfriend and I just share a vehicle. I'm hoping sales pick up again this year (doubtful) so I can get ride of my own again. It's not hugely important I guess since I work from home and rarely go anywhere. I've become kind of a hermit over the years.

mikesinner 02-25-2013 02:12 PM

I never owned a car and never learned to drive. I think there is really no reason to learn now the way things are going.
