George Zimmerman, who has been in hiding since he was acquitted of murder in the death of Trayvon Martin, emerged to help rescue a family who was trapped in an overturned vehicle, police said today.

Zimmerman was one of two men who came to the aid of a family of four -- two parents and two children -- trapped inside a blue Ford Explorer SUV that had rolled over after traveling off the highway in Sanford, Fla. at approximately 5:45 p.m. Thursday, the Seminole County Sheriff's Office said in a statement.

The crash occurred at the intersection of I-4 and route Route 46, police said. The crash site is less than a mile from where Zimmerman shot Martin.

By the time police arrived, two people - including Zimmerman - had already helped the family get out of the overturned car, the sheriff's office said. No one was reported to be injured.

Zimmerman was not a witness to the crash and left after speaking with the deputy, police said.

I watched a presentation last night that zimmerman was involved in investagation of a black kid killed by a cop he called it racist... so Im just curious how these people call him a racist?

I doubt Zimmerman is a racist. I think it's mainly the under informed who think that. Still my gut and logic tells me he is no angel either. Good for him for helping out but if he lied about anything at all in regards to what happens that night he is a horrible human being unless he comes out and admits it. You don't tell a mother that her dead son tried to kill you and threatened to kill you if it isn't true. You don't sit there slandering the unarmed kid you shot dead and then purposely have your lawyers try to present a picture of him being a drug crazed thug in order to save your own ass if it isn't 100% true.

Justice occurred for now and Zimmerman was acquitted. But I hope he deserved it and if not I hope he will at least come clean and apologize. It really bothered me watching that Fox News interview where when asked if he would do anything differently that night he responded "No, sir". It boggled my mind.

If you're a Christian or believe in a higher power (or are just a humanist with high ideals) I hope you will at least agree with me that if he wasn't truthful about what happened in any significant way then he isn't a very good person.

I don't think Zimmerman was a racist either. I honestly believe he had the best of intentions that night - He wanted to protect his community. I think Zimmerman handled the situation poorly from the start and made very poor decisions.

So you think the jury is omniscient? All I'm saying is that Zimmerman knows what is true. If what he told us isn't 100% of the truth then he's a pretty bad person. We ought to be able to agree on that?

Same here. It's speculation on my part but I think much of his story was fabricated to reduce the chances of him being charged. Once the lies got out there he was stuck with it unless he wanted to admit to it and end up manning up for some prison time for false statements. I could be wrong on that though. It's just my gut feeling and my analysis.

He probably was getting beat on by Trayvon at some point and he probably did fear for his life. He overreacted and at that time probably wasn't very good under pressure. Some people aren't. I've been in two life threatening situations against attackers with knives and guns. I know two speeds when like that. Calm and detached or totally seeing red and full aggression fight for my life. But once you go through such a situation it tends to change you and you're a bit more ready next time.

It was potentially life threatening. Trayvon could have took his gun and shot him. Even without a gun involved Trayvon might have beat him to death. It was night after all and he didn't know Trayvon. He thought he was high on drugs and a criminal.

OTOH Zimmerman knew that neighbors witnessed it and he knew one said they were calling the cops. The cops arrived within a couple minutes of the gunshot.

Zimmerman's injuries weren't life threatening and he declined to go to the ER that night. He also knew Trayvon was probably underage or near it because earlier he told 911 that he appeared to be in his "late teens".

It's easy to see both sides. I think many of us would have avoided using lethal force knowing that there were witnesses and that police were on their way. Some of us would have. I can't be extremely judgmental either way.

it's very simple..... him declining medical treatment ? thats very common he was under about 10000x the amount of adrenaline ..... you never feel the pain til the next day...

Took a knife gash to my cheek in an armed robbery with multiple attackers. I declined going to the ER too but it wasn't really that bad. It just scarred a bit and I opted not to even get stitches. It was pretty stupid in retrospect but you can barely see the scar now. But just as easily the knife could have punctured my neck or eye too.

Yeah I can understand it. The same for statements right afterwards. Things happen so fast. But later if you fucked up and gave incorrect details you ought to man up and correct them when it involves a dead kid.

Looking at his photos I don't believe they were very serious. But yes that doesn't mean they couldn't be like I already said. Once you are out you have zero control over what happens to you next.
