Turn around, and get back on the plane.

Choopa_Pardo 04-22-2014 07:51 AM

What are you looking to do? What are your primary interests? How many days do you have in town?

Your neck will hurt from looking upwards.:1orglaugh

Welcome to the USA. Will you be visiting just the blue states or will you drive through all the middle states that have tourist attractions like giant balls of yarn and palaces made out of corn?

Typical things to do - take a shuttle bus to Manhattan, walk from Pershing Sq. to Times Sq. Wander around. Take a walk down to Midtown - Rockfeller and Empire State. Then take a cab to Battery Park, visit NYSE. I like eating at the salad bars that are all around.
Ferry to the Statue of Liberty meh, Ground Zero... What else? SoHo by foot... about that.

I know how it's all done, but it's still stunning. His Any Drink Called For is just wonderful. As is the block of ice...

NY has the best of everything, food, entertainment, art.
#1 Get pizza, NY pizza is the best in the world http://gothamist.com/2013/09/18/the_...za_in_nyc.php#.
Go to a museum http://www.metmuseum.org/en
Go see book of Mormon on Broadway http://www.bookofmormonbroadway.com/
Or see a Cirque show: http://www.cirquedusoleil.com/en/sho.../new-york.aspx
Go To Eataly and eat food from famous chefs http://www.eataly.com/
Get a pastrami sandwich or hot dog from street vendors
Make sure your wallet is well hidden and dont take the train or bus, take cabs everywhere. Pick pocketers and crime everywhere.

Good advice, and I agree with everything except the bit about buses and trains. The subway is fine and a great way to get around the city, though you may want to avoid it after, say, 8pm. Buses are even safer--I commuted on buses in Manhattan for years with exactly zero problems, and this was in the early to mid 80's when NYC was a lot less safe than it is now.

The one that stumped me was probably the simplest. His brick replacing a coin on a platter at the start while he was surrounded.

trendy torture.
:1orglaugh

I met a vegan gal at the beach a while back and we hung out a few times, she took me to her fav vegan restaurant and I had never been to a vegan restaurant. She ordered coconut water for both of us when we first arrived and then went to the ladies's room. the water arrived while she was there and I took a big swig of mine as I was thirsty- I spewed some of it out of my mouth it was so disgusting. It didn't get any better from there. :Oh crap Have you had vegan?

Well, that is complex question. Yes, I had vegetables or rice etc :)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Veganism - I would not mind that rice and beans dish (see photos). What I mean is that vegan dish may as well be "regular" dish, like that rice+beans :)
So I could most likely find something tasty in vegan restaurant.

Few of them looks tasty. I am certain that almost anyone would find something tasty in a vegan restaurant.
Problem would be if you had to be vegan for a long time, but one visit to vegan restaurant - no problem at all :thumbsup

good luck, I was truly disappointed with the food as I was looking foward to it, and had to put on a charade about it all. I had actually expected the meal to be akin to eating fantastic sushi the very first time- but sadly, no.

mineistaken 04-22-2014 05:30 PM

Well, at the very least you could order some salad...

dyna mo 04-22-2014 05:47 PM

sure and when I crave a salad I like a killer salad, but whoopie, a salad.

Pack human shit in all of your pockets just in case you get stopped and frisked.
Hey, why not make it a shitty experience for them too?

Or not, since you have close to nothing chances of being frisked if you look like a quality citizen.
By the way one of the best programs, NYPD :thumbsup

Walk uptown from Times Square to Columbus Circle to Central Park to the Museum of Natural History (Central Park W and 79th St). Then head down to 1st or 3rd Avenue, walk south to 23rd or 14th Streets then the world is your oyster. Soho, Tribeca, Wash Square Park, Canal Street, Chinatown, Little Italy, Wall Street (boring area) Seaport (Tourist Trap) are all in walking distance from 14th and 3rd Ave. Enjoy.
