Better Call Saul

Show keeps getting better. By year three it will be great. :2 cents:

Jel 02-23-2015 11:26 PM

heh, just on here winding down before I watch this week's episode :thumbsup

izombie 02-24-2015 12:46 AM

I'm definitely hooked so far and will continue to watch it, I'm still waiting for him to become the Saul we all know and love.

OY 02-24-2015 01:19 AM

I started last night, and swallowed 3 straight episodes. love it! :thumbsup

selena 02-24-2015 07:16 AM

I had a lot of reservations about this concept, but thus far, I am not disappoint.

Zuzana Designs 02-24-2015 08:18 AM

Great show so far. I need to watch this weeks episode still. Hoping to have some time tonight.

Plutocracy 02-24-2015 08:35 AM

I love this show!

bronco67 02-24-2015 08:40 AM

If Vince Gilligan is involved in something, you don't need to worry about it.

H-Tom 02-24-2015 08:56 AM

I lost interest in the series. The main character is a great actor but the show is extremely boring.
I'm already watching one boring show The Walking Dead, don't want to start another one.

I thought the same, I am not even willing to watch it anymore.

Juicy D. Links 02-24-2015 09:00 AM

i love it so far

michael.kickass 02-24-2015 09:11 AM

I'm about to start watching it on netflix. Looks promising.

it's true, the show has zero bite to it. I understand it wants to build a back story to the character but how fast did they zoom by that in breaking bad originally? a few quick flash backs and more explanation as the show went on.. this is dragging out already.

not giving up on it yet i guess, but so far not impressed.

Have you watched all episodes to date? I barely made it through the first one.

Same here, I may watch a couple of more, just to see if it leads anywhere, but only if I'm really bored :winkwink:

mineistaken 02-24-2015 12:24 PM

Love it, not boring at all. I am not an "action" man, character building is better and more interesting to me than some major action going on. Plus the small scams are great :)

georgeyw 02-24-2015 01:30 PM

It is so painfully slow, finding it really difficult to watch.

CDSmith 02-24-2015 01:42 PM

People were dying for more Breaking Bad, which had such a finality to it's conclusion you just knew it was over. Until now. Saul has a real Breaking Bad look and feel, it being an offshoot of sorts. Definitely so far so good on this series. These first few episodes have been a slow burn, but with the production's track record you just know it won't disappoint.

I only just recently watched every episode of BB, btw. It was quite a ride. Of course it was on AMC so all of the 'bad' words were bleeped out, which I find ridiculous, and the sex/sexy scenes were all pretty toned down and tame which had me longing for it to have been an HBO, Movie Central, or Showtime production, but other than that it was pretty great.

I never would have caught on to Better Call Saul had I not done that. BB was the gateway drug that led me to Saul. ha

Jel 02-24-2015 02:48 PM

question not a statement: are those of you finding it boring comparing it to the end of BB, rather than the beginning of BB maybe? I watched a few of the first episodes again of BB, and they were painfully slow, because I knew how the show was when it got to full strength as it were. Same thing with the sopranos, and the shield.

I'm enjoying the fuck out of better call saul, and last night's opening scne had me fooled right until the end :thumbsup

(side note; Relentless, this is possibly one of those instances of the 'curse of knowledge' I mentioned the other day about seeing more examples of now I'm more aware of it :) )

bronco67 02-24-2015 03:16 PM

Damn, you guys have some short attention spans.

Sorry, but Saul's not a gangster or drug dealer. There's not going to be a whole lot of life or death situations happening.

BlackCrayon 02-24-2015 03:28 PM

i might watch this show eventually but i really know why they picked a spin off using saul instead of jesse or something.

Jesse was main character and pretty much everything about him was displayed. While Saul was in play only when they needed a lawyer.

sure but what happened to jesse after the last scene in breaking bad? im sure many would like to know.

Joe Obenberger 02-24-2015 04:19 PM

Agree with many of the posts above. It is slow.

Breaking Bad used many different, interesting, characters, most of whom evolved throughout the series and went through all the shades of black in front of us. Except for Jesse, who seemed to grow into a better person.

In contrast, Saul's eccentricity and situational ethics seem to amount to just one, long extended joke. And there's only so far that one joke will go.

It's hard to identify with any of the other characters - his older brother, a lawyer who's become a tin-foil-hat kook, the one dimensional lawyers at his brother's old firm, and the rest of the characters who are even less developed. I'm sure that Mike from Breaking Bad will become more interesting in time, but it's too slow in coming.

As a Breaking Bad fan, I'd really, really like this show to succeed. Truly. But for me, so far, it isn't working and isn't all that interesting.

Relentless 02-24-2015 04:21 PM

They need to establish a new character. Jimmy McGill is not Saul Goodman.... yet.

They are doing the same thing they did with BB in that Walter White the Chemistry teacher was not Heisenberg at the start. The main difference is now they have to dovetail into what we all know Jimmy becomes.

That is not something you can do with a couple flashbacks.

dyna mo 02-24-2015 04:23 PM

I like how vince gill makes television shows, cinematography, editing, all the other bells and whistles he uses, while this show is a slow cook so far, I'm still watching. it's got a twin peaks vibe to it without being as twin peaky as twin peaks was.

Axeman 02-24-2015 04:50 PM

I'm loving the show so far. Each week you get further into how he ended up as Saul. I'm enjoying the twisted conflict he has about being like his brother, or like Saul.

seeandsee 02-24-2015 05:08 PM

I agree, show is good and interesting

Wow, the series is only 4 episodes old.

mineistaken 02-24-2015 05:24 PM

One of the best (best for me) current running series :)
If it not as good as BB it is not that relevant. Still very good.
Go, Mr. Saul! :)

Relentless 02-24-2015 06:00 PM

People complaining should wait until season 3 and then binge watch. It wont feel slow that way. Character development takes time and will feel slow until you know everyone. So far they have introduced 6 characters that matter:

The rival law firm owner, the girl at the firm he has a history with, Nacho, Mr Kettlemen, Mrs Kettlemen, his brother Chuck.

6 characters in 4 episodes. That's actually blazing fast...

And that doesn't even include Jimmy McGill who is essentially a new character as well.

Not a new character.... You already knew more about him than they were showing you in this series if you watched BB

sticki 02-24-2015 08:43 PM

Great show..I'm watching yesterday's episode as we speak.

lezinterracial 03-01-2015 11:52 PM

Just started yesterday. Watched the first 4 episodes in one sitting. Pretty good.

RyuLion 03-01-2015 11:55 PM

It looks good actually..

stopitbrrruce 03-02-2015 12:05 PM

I just watched all my DVR'd episodes last night. Enjoying the show very much. I love that it has a lot of the black humor that Breaking Bad started off with

He went to Cuba where he had extensive plastic surgery to alter his appearance.

He then returned to the USA and is currently hiding in plain sight as one of the countless Elvis impersonators working there.

He has a 2 cats and a dog that he abuses when he gets drunk that he named Walt.
