I upgraded to Windows 10 and don't like it. Things I hate about it...
I had Windows 8 and got it working fine. I upgraded to 10 and I never should have.
1. My old copy of photoshop doesnt work anymore. 2. icons are so small now, have to squint 3. My start menu is only 1/3rd of the programs I use. Not theres a list of 6 programs and a big space under them, and some tasks on the bottom. pain in the ass. 4. You need a microsoft account to use Cortana 5. All old files I used to use are gone from start. I have to manually find each one and when I do I right clck and "Pin to start" and they still dont appear on Start menu. wish I didnt upgrade. Fuck |
Overall I have had a pretty good experience. This morning though I spent around 45 minutes trying to figure out why my wifi adapter was not recognized on my PC even though it worked fine all day yesterday after the upgrade.

I actually prefer windows 8 with classic shell. New start menu is still crap. It is so much easier to find what you want with the win7 style start menu.
New browser sucks too. First they take away the home button (but you can re-enable it) but now when you hit home it won't go to your chosen home page. You're only given the choice of a blank page or their "start" page which is bullshit. When I click home I want to go to Google. Do the idiots not run these feature removals through a focus group? How could they think that was an improvement? |
yeah i am dealing with the photoshop problem as we speak, wish i knew that in advance

Trying to find stuff in the control panel is a bitch too. Hopefully there is an option to reorganize the control panel so it is laid out like the old style. Let's just take everything and hide it under a different bunch of headings. People love having to search for shit that used to take 1 second to find.

I used Windows machines all the way till Windows 7. Once Windows 8 came out I knew my days on a microsoft machine were numbers. Made the switch to OSX and I love it. It took some getting used to but now I can't believe I ever used windows. I have a nice 27" all in one and a 15" laptop. Love em!
|
Well I seen how you can get the regular control panel back. Why they felt the need to hide it and replace it with the settings panel is beyond me.
|
What can I say until now I like the new win10 !
|
ya im really liking it so far, as far as photoshop goes.. cs5 didn't work (which i prefer over cs6), never even bothered trying my copy of cs6 . so just went out and got the new Photoshop CC
|
i hope photoshop cc 2015 would be fine.. i guess i'd have to google it before running the upgrade
|
xcllnt thread, thank you. now sticking with my supremely dialed-in w7 boxes and portable.
windows/microsoft had a serious product problem heading into the future, was reading about it recently, i'll try and dig up the article. combined with their being out of touch with their customers = big trouble. |
The biggest thing for me is the Photoshop. If I had known I never would have touched it
|
Using Photoshop cc and premier... No problems
|
Windows 7 works fine for me. Why should I upgrade to anything else?
|
fyi if you upgraded to 10 and want to go back, its easy.
On Win10 go to start > settings > update & security > recovery > go back to (your version) I just did it, took 20 mins, and now im back. |
I ain't surprised ...

The thing that always pisses me off the most is that they always include a new email client and there is NEVER a way of simply transferring all of the accounts (some of us have multiple email accounts on a dozen servers) PLUS the vast archive of messages...over to the NEW email program!
They seem to think that some grandpa is the only one who uses his computer and has one hotmail account...WTF? |
I know a ton of people who work at Microsoft Amazon and Google. The people who work at Amazon and Google tend to be pretty amazing people. The people who work at Microsoft tend to be people are kind of bland and not very passionate. and of course it shows in their shitty product. I walked into theMicrosoft Store yesterday and played around with the surface and other machines running Windows 10 and hated it. I use windows 7 do not plan on changing until I go back to using Macs
|
what about the new ms browser?

One OS or another doesn't matter much. |
I am sticking with windows 7 for a few years more, no need to change at least not for me.
|
There are lot of issues regarding compatibility with the new OS.
|
So Windows 8.1 will slowly die now?

I am happy with how I have tweaked windows 7 to my liking. The free upgrade is available for a year, so I am going to wait before thinking of upgrading

Will wait this one out as long as I can. |

Win 7 for me until they stop support as they did for xp.
So maybe 5 more years? :) Fucking happy with win 7, not fixing what is not broken. |

People complaining yet again about how the latest Windows sucks, or how it is slow, or how the interface is bad, or how applications don't run, but grinning and bearing it anyway, instead of daring to try something new. Most Mac users used to be PC users until we switched. And yet we are the "sheeple". 'k. |
I'll be on win 7 as long as it's possible.

I had a monitor resolution issue so I just swapped it out and when I hooked it to a Debian 8 install I had the same issue so the monitor is to blame. The Radeon Catalyst drivers and api for the video card are bad on W-10 and no longer runs. I don't do any serious work on Windows computers anyway but our customers use them so I have to test them. I bought a tablet that is Android 5.1 for the same reason, testing the users commonly used devices. |
