New DIRE Global Warming Study...

Earth to warm 2 degrees by the end of this century, studies say - CNN.com

So reading this report from "one study" the Earth temperature will go up TWO WHOLE DEGREES by the year 2,100

LOL!

Remember that the "scientists" predicted that the East Coast would be underwater by the year 2000 also. And of course they were 100% wrong.

But anyway...if TWO WHOLE DEGREES has you shaking in your boots with fear...
The report goes on to say this:
"even if humans suddenly stopped burning fossil fuels now, Earth will continue to heat up about two more degrees by 2100"

In other words...humans can't change anything.

BUT THEN...the story goes on to contradict itself and says this:
"Clearly the US leaving the Paris Agreement would make the 2 C or 1.5 C targets even harder to achieve than they currently are"

So let me get this straight:
The Earth is supposedly going to warm up by 2 degrees in 83 years.
And there is NOTHING we can do about it.
BUT...at the same time...the U.S. pulling out of the Paris Accords makes it "even harder" to stop it?

WTF!?!?!??!

How the hell anybody can believe this kind of silly shit is beyond me.

wehateporn 07-31-2017 09:11 AM

Where I live those extra 2 degrees will be a change for the better :thumbsup :1orglaugh

Joshua G 07-31-2017 09:19 AM

these same left wing dumb shits were whining about global COOLING in the 70s.

whichever trend the climate changes, the dumb libs make up lies about the future & sell fear to the young & the stupid. Of course CNN carries the water for liberal bullshit.

its all about making money, getting taxpayer money so "activists" & "scientists" like bill nye can drive mercedes & live in big houses on the california coast.

rochard & mark prince are examples of the dumbed down dupes on this forum shilling liberal bullshit.

:1orglaugh

Bladewire 07-31-2017 09:24 AM

The OP is afraid of Blacks & Mexicans and thinks global warming is stupid :1orglaugh

SpicyM 07-31-2017 09:25 AM

Who cares about global warming, the whole mankind is fucked anyway no matter if we slow it down or not.. Wars, overpopulating, diseases, poverty..

There will be a big "reset" in the future and the story of live on Earth starts again. Yawn..

EddyTheDog 07-31-2017 09:32 AM

Are we still denying 'climate change' on here?..

Is it a leap to think that as we have a been responsible for a MASSIVE change on the planet that we might have something to do with at least part of it?....

I wont be around to care of course - The 'so called' leader of the free world feels the same - How can I be wrong?..

The climate does change, but it's very little to do with mankind

Nope...just denying that mankind changes it.
The Earth's climate has been changing...sometimes radically so...since the beginning of time.

And as I just showed you...the latest prediction is 2 degrees in 83 years.
And also...same report says that even if man stopped using ALL fossil fuels...it STILL goes up 2 degrees.

Does that not strike you as bullshit? Especially when you take into account that EVERY prediction that they have made since the 1970's has turned out to be wrong.

If this were any other discussion except "global warming" you would be saying it's nonsense. But somehow they have managed to convince smart people of a stupid idea.

Rochard 07-31-2017 09:39 AM

2 degrees might kill us all.

Hi Robbie,

I know it doesn't seem like much, but it is. Here's a few things to know:

As water warms up, it expands, taking up more space. 2 degrees is nothing to a single gallon of water, but to the Atlantic ocean for example that contains about 82 Billion Billion gallons of water, warmer water means lots of expanding water, and lots of flooding of coastal towns.

This tiny increase in the average temperature also means that heat waves last longer, creating food shortages and drought, etc. Plus, a whole lot of other problems that I'm sure you've read about.

It's a really serious problem. I think there are lots of jobs and big money to be made helping scientists, people and companies find solutions to this problem. The nicest payoff of course will be a beautiful green and blue planet.

Cheers!

starling 07-31-2017 09:49 AM

Of course the earth is heating up we're coming out of an ice age. Why anyone would expect the ice caps to stay there forever is beyond me. Mars is also heating up but that doesn't get mentioned. Why? Because there's no money to be made from it!

crockett 07-31-2017 09:51 AM

Robbie = idiot as we see demonstrated regularly here on GFY...

Doesn't understand that average temp means very different things for different parts of the globe..

Might raise 1% in Vegas but maybe 5 to 10 in the artics. Robbie suffers from the idioarcy of the right wing, they can't seem to understand there us a entire world out side of their little 30 mile home bubble..

There have been relativity small volcanic eruptions with a lot less pollutants than we have produced that have ended in massive climate change...

Interesting how you read an article and take what you want from it. It amuses me that those who should be the most concerned are often those in the most denial. It also amuses me that anyone working online is linking to a clickbait article, probably why you voted Trump I'd presume, ripe cherry for propaganda.

The earth is warming at an expedited rate, humans are adding to the speed of that increased warming. As best we can tell the major cause of that is the burning of fossil fuels. Its been said that we can add another 2c in the next 100 years based on our current fossil fuel usage.

And 2+2 = 4

Four degrees Celsius does not sound a lot but that just happens to be 39.2 Fahrenheit.

And while we would all love it to be a little hotter, plants don't most will only grow in a range of +/- 10f, anything more or less and the crop is fucked.

And that will be especially important in countries like the USA, because your biggest exports are.. Soyabeans and Cotton.

And as a country of bean farmers and cotton pickers that should be triggering alarm bells as to how you can slow that warming.

Did any of you read that "report"? Or at least see where I quoted it as saying that even IF mankind STOPS ALL FOSSIL FUEL USE...it makes ZERO difference.

The report actually tells you that man has no ability to change it at all.
I'm not the one saying it...that report is saying it.

As for the Earth becoming unlivable for humans at 2 degrees warmer?

BULLSHIT.

See this pic:
https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikiped...Comparison.png

Looks scary!

Except that "high" mark in 2004? It's only about 0.15 degrees warmer than it was in the year 1000 AD
And guess what? Humans lived. And they did it WITHOUT air conditioning, refrigerators, etc.

Yep, the Earth climate has changed since the beginning of time. Sometimes SEVERELY.

Now do YOU get the part where the report says: Even if we stop ALL fossil fuel use...the temp STILL goes up by 2 degrees?

And if you do get it...then wtf? :)

Watch the documentary, "Chasing Coral". Maybe that will register.
More than 70% of the Great Barrier Reef is gone. Dead. And it has happened very quickly.
It is just once instance.

A 2 degree temperature will kill off much of what lives in the ocean because of the way the water will change. It will become unlivable for plant and see life. What lives in the Dead Sea or the Salton Sea?

I believe Stephen Hawking when he says if we are here in 100 years we will be on the road to a rapid extinction. :2 cents:

I agree with this. We are in fact coming out of an ice age. No matter what it's going to get hotter.

But I disagree with you saying there is "no money to be made". Nothing could be further from the truth. We need to build systems to clean our air and do everything we can to prevent the earth from getting warmer, or at least slow it down. Then we need to prepare for the planet getting hotter - which most likely means moving under ground. Think about how much money can be made by these two things.

I meant there's no money to be made by causing panic over mars heating up. The reason its being made out to be a global crisis is because "green" is a huge business.

And I thought we all learned the difference between Celsius and Fahrenheit in school. You keep saying "2 degrees" but the reality is 3.6 degrees Fahrenheit, something you conveniently keep leaving out.

This is the reported consensus of the scientists in the field, that a 2 degree increase for an extended period of time will change our geography and coastal cities will be inundated with rising oceans, complicated destructive weather changes, but there is little that man can do to prevent this from happening but any effort to postpone or lessen the impact would be a worthwhile effort.

People as old as Robbie is will not be here to experience the worst of it so it is easy for him to make fun of the inevitable. I too will not be here to experience the impact of an extended 2 degree change.

Robbie 07-31-2017 03:06 PM

Hi Robby,

Yes I read the report, and yes if we're at the "tipping point", then changes using current technology and or changes as we understand them, may not make any difference.

This is what gets me (and other libbies like me) really frustrated. Scientists have been sounding the alarm bell for years now, and the push-back against science has been too strong.

But then again, you know me, I am always an optimist. Plants may adapt to absorb more CO2 (I actually read this the other day!). Other countries like India may planet a few more million trees. Other technologies will be invented to absorb CO2 and other greenhouse gasses from the atmosphere, faster.

i have to hope! Giving up isn't in my DNA.

Cheers!

I used dislike Robbie but fortunately my opinion of him evolved.

And let's be honest. None of us are scientists. What we all are, is passionate about what we believe. That passion easily turns into hostility when we fail to make our point, or our points are dismissed for any reason. Idiots like me fighting on forums is caused by this. It's important to try to step back a little and see things in a different way, otherwise we'll never get anywhere.

As for Gary's cock, well, fuck you. No one's cock is nicer than mine. Or bigger. Except yours. of course.
