I'd say 20 years ago, a lot of dorks such as myself could still find things like pron and other things to make money with, now that so much of life has been taken over by big corporations, you either have to sell out and becoming Mr. Wannabe Establishment or you just get fucked...

Super lucky if you can still be a somewhat-independent person while making money for yourself.

Imho, GFY is rather the boring woman who lacks originality and with whom we are less and less willing to talk.

I think part of the problem is your outlook.

You see those of us still in the business as "super lucky" but I see it as guys that still work hard.

I've got a brilliant theory: all those chatters were the historical program owners themselves, diligently screwing over affiliates while avoiding any actual work. They must have been utterly dedicated to messing around all day on the board, trying to lure in affiliates. And surprise, all those programs have magically vanished, leaving a mountain of unpaid money behind. Naturally, these paragons of virtue have also disappeared from the board. How shocking! If something is dead, than it is the idea of fair business.

I'd say more than ever in the world of self-publishing and organic discovery. There are way more people "making good money while being themselves" today than there ever was in adult 20 years ago.

Social media, youtube, podcasting. This is how people do it. No it's not easy.

GFY is not dead. When people look back to the glory days, that was when everything was new, so there was a lot of opportunity for first mover advantage. Adapt or die as they say. It's not easy, and for a lot of the type of people on here, it may be that non-adult now has better opportunities.

I mean it is dead in the sense that 10 years ago you would be on page one and on the bottom it would say Last Post: Yesterday, instead of last weeks date like it is now.

But then again, most of those threads were "how do I get TGPX to work?", or "does this sponsor pay?", or "anyone want to trade traffic? looking for QUALITY links", sometimes an ANAL HOBBIT thread.

You can still pick a nugget out of all the shit here once in a while. Just wash it off and use it.
On the other hand, if I could fuck myself, I'd be doing it all the time.

I'd say everyone working in adult has still heard of GFY, they just don't care. The general consensus among people I hang out with who make a lot of money in this industry is that GFY is for losers and broke weirdos and an overall waste of time :Oh crap

I mean 20+ years ago people figured out how to make a bunch of money from home, and developed this punk rock community of throwing porn up and getting paid. In 2024 most the money is made by companies who have offices and staff and work 9-5.

This place isn't even fun for those of us who constantly got banned.

Half the posts are boomers fighting about biden/trump, the other half are lame posts with nothing of substance.

I come here once every 3 months and scroll the main board and nothing even stands out as worthy of clicking to read, my eyes have shifted from reading thread titles to seeing who posted it because maybe it's worth a read if the right person posted it. Which coincidentally I only opened this thread because Harmon posted it.
