Tyson vs. Ali

I think Tyson would have won when he was 20. People don't like it when I say that.

69pornlinks 11-06-2004 11:31 AM

no way in hell, ali was too smart...tyson is a brawler noit a boxer, ali wouldv'e put on a clinic on homeboy, and i have much luv for tyson but he coul;dn't fuck with ali

galleryseek 11-06-2004 11:33 AM

Tyson was probably too dominative for Ali, or for anyone when he was at his prime - brains or not, i imagine it's like trying to fight a train.

Drake 11-06-2004 11:34 AM

If Tyson got a solid punch or two on Ali's face, Ali would go down. Tyson is one of the hardest hitters ever in boxing.

But, if Ali was able to protect his face, and work his genius, Tyson would be defeated. He'd wear down Tyson, piss him off until he's tired out. Then Ali would destroy him.

pornguy 11-06-2004 11:35 AM

So what happened that Tyson sucks in the ring now??

He's too old now. A man reaches his physical prime at 30 years old. Every year after that it's a steady decline.

at that time, ali said foreman was the hardest he was hit..hard to say who hit harder formean or tyson...but i'm still say ali becasue once you get tyson past 4 rounds he;s done...and i'm sure ali would know this...hahaha

edit- but if ali was fighing tyson when he was clay then he would get ass whipped....allah akbar lol

Cory W 11-06-2004 11:38 AM

Ali could have knocked Tyson out, Tyson could not take hits well, he never had to.

But, Tyson at 20 was a bulldog and would have went after him. That upper cut would have given Ali a piece of canvas.

True, Ali was a smart and strong fighter. Tyson is just a brute force fighter.

I think Tyson went through that phase as well LOL

Torn Rose 11-06-2004 11:58 AM

Ali is the only man to knock George Foreman on his ass, he did it with brains and power and George was in his prime.

Tyson refused to fight an old George because he knew his power would not work vs someone so tall and he would not be able to score a knockout or a knock down.

Ali in his prime would take out Tyson in his prime in 9 rounds or less.

D-Money 11-06-2004 01:39 PM

Tyson @ age 20 = Ali K.O.

Tyson was the Jordan of boxing back then.

Too powerful of a punch.

Vitasoy 11-06-2004 03:39 PM

Tyson in his prime, was a beast. I'd have give the nod to Tyson.

adamneve 11-06-2004 04:10 PM

that would be on hell of a fight

dig420 11-06-2004 04:17 PM

Tyson was a monster, no doubt. Foreman was just as much a monster, and Liston may have been worse.

The thing about the young Ali is that he was almost impossible to hit, and since we found out later in his career that he had a cast-iron jaw - one of the best boxing has EVER seen - hitting him doesn't guarantee he's going to be hurt. Also Tyson was never a particularly strong-willed fighter, if he doesn't put you down fast his nerve might not hold up for the entire fight and Ali wouldn't be scared of him. You can't count out a Tyson quality fighter against ANYBODY, but if they fought 100 times I think Ali wins about 90.

Earnie Shavers
George Foreman
Sonny Liston
Cleveland Williams

All hit as hard as Tyson, or so close that it makes no difference. The young Ali DOMINATED Sonny Liston and Cleveland Williams and the old Ali outsmarted and outboxed George Foreman and Earnie Shavers.

Ali was something truly special, there's a reason he's still called The Greatest :)

With excellent head movement and very fast hands. I'd have to put him in the top 10 all time heavyweight list.

TweetyBird 11-06-2004 04:26 PM

Ali is the King, it would have been an interesting fight though :glugglug

I hear you, I'm not 100% convinced about Tyson and I've been known to make bad bets in sports pools, so what do I know. I'm just saying, I've seen Ali fight alot and Tyson, my opinion is that Tyson's punch is probably as hard as the boxers you mentioned, but Tyson had a mental factor where he really punked out some boxers with that stare. He was also way more fierce then those old school power hitters. So if you add in the "not being medicated" Mike @ 20 years old, that fierce, comin' at you hard and furious in the first round, that's the Tyson I'm talking about.

Cory W 11-06-2004 05:26 PM

I am with D-Money.

Thing is, even if others were as powerful (not that I agree), Tyson was a compact swinging machine. He delivered blows much faster, plus he was aggressive.

My opinion, it would not be a long fight either way. Tyson could not take a punch well, seeing he didn't take many, so if Ali won, it would be before 5 rounds.

On the other hand, Tyson would likely knock Ali out before round 3. I don't care how much Ali can dodge punches, Tyson's punch array was devestating and at some points, unfair to the competition.

I have said it before, Tyson changed the way our generation watched boxing. Now, if a fight goes past 5 rounds, I am bored.

xclusive 11-06-2004 05:31 PM

Ali was overrated but still great he wasn't a god tyson with one hit would have knocked him on his ass...

johnny1 11-06-2004 07:16 PM

Ali in is prime VS Tyson in his prime

TYSON WOULD CRACK HIM.

Dalai lama 11-06-2004 07:17 PM

Tyson will win

neverlearn 11-06-2004 07:18 PM

Ali would beat tyson like lewis did

chemicaleyes 11-06-2004 07:20 PM

Ali 100% :glugglug
Tyson's power means nothing.

Tyson at 20 man.

Lewis bragged about beating Tyson, he beat a repackaged version.

Yeah, tyson was spry and tough at twenty but Ali wouldnt let him Bulldog him...tyson is short with very little reach whereas Ali was over 6'0 with long-ass reach and man could he dance

I agree with the reach factor. I believe that was thebiggest contributing factor to his demise (other than his trainer dying).

actually Tyson takes a punch very well, he's got a great chin and showed it against Lewis. It wouldn't be enough to save him against Ali though.

neverlearn 11-06-2004 11:09 PM

and ...heres a big point that hasnt been mentioned yet...Ali would be taunting tyson so bad it would be ridiculous...Joe Frazier and Tyson are pretty similar only (Ithink ) Frazier was a tougher and more durable better boxer with a good tolerance for bullshit, But there is no way in hell a guy like Tyson (ya...he 'ears ya...) is gonna stay calm cool and collective during Ali constantly putting him down in the ring. Tyson would flip RIGHT out. He would be walking forehead first into jab after jab trying to brawl and Ali would sting sting sting....So Therefore I believe Tyson become sloppy and Ali would soooooooooooo use that to his advantage

zzgundamnzz 11-06-2004 11:32 PM

I think a better matchup would of been Tyson vs Foreman in there primes...

J$tyle$ 11-07-2004 01:01 AM

At 20 yrs old Tyson was fuckin' Pit Bull ... he systematically broke his opponents down ... mudering their bodies and braking their heads (almost snapping them off) with his KILLER uppercuts and BRUTAL haymakers - it was almost unfair!

Ali in his prime was so smart and technicaly skilled and he embarrassed so many of his opponents - he was the man of his generation, no doubt!

(I don't care how Ali teased, suckered and beat Forman ... Tyson was a fuckin' hot blooded ANIMAL!)

All things being equal ... both men in their primes?

Ali would have ridiculed and annoyed the shit out of Tyson leading up to the fight and Iron Mike would have ripped off his head and probably killed him!

Tyson wins by KO in 2 rounds ... Ali left in the middle of the ring in a bloody and beaten lump!
