Not at all..longer waiting lists and people actually die waiting for surgery.Trouble is everybody abuses it..going in for the sniffles fucks it up and creates longer back ups.We also have the doctors and nurses leaving to go to the states which creates even more problems.

It's also politics. Doctors pretending to be too busy. They want more pay and no salary caps. When they don't get their way with the government, they're too busy to see you. As the patient, you suffer because you are the pon.

It's like the teachers always pretending they want the best for the kids they teach when all that they're really after is keeping their 2 months off work and high pay.

Well it could be but when you see the waiting room packed and have to wait an hour to see him for 5 minutes tells me something is fucked up :BangBang:

I don't know where you got the idea that teachers got paid well, but it's entirely wrong.

I'm not sure where you live, they get paid very well where I live. And any job that allows you to have 2 months off work is pretty good IMO.

I live in South Carolina, USA. And around here teachers don't get paid shit. They start at a salary of around $22,000 a year and get very minimal salary increases. My mother in law has been teaching school for 15 years and she still makes less than $30,000 a year.
At the school where she teaches they go year round, so she she gets off like 2 weeks every couple months rather than 2 consecutive months in a row.

Yeah that's terrible. I guess it's different everywhere. Teachers should get decent pay as their job is absolutely necessary. Like all of us even the high paying ones get greedy sometimes.

And there are nurses and family doctors in the system that SHOULDN"T be in the system and cause further problems, and expenses.

Aside from a week here , a week there .

My sister was a teacher , and now at 55 she has a very substantial retirement ...

Now, they do deserve it .

Some teachers are shit. The great ones definitely deserve it, the shitty ones should have been weeded out early on, though they still haven't figured out a good system to do that.

BoNgHiTtA 11-17-2004 02:33 AM

Perhaps they really are too busy? *shrug*

Where I live, New Zealand (which is also mostly socialised medicine), doctors don't want more money they want to be able to work less hours.

xclusive 11-17-2004 02:40 AM

Well teachers cant' really be fired even if they are bad because of the freaking unions and it brings out whole educational system down. As far as canada having a surplus good for them if a country is run right things will always work out well but if not you get what is happening in the US under Bush...

a surplus doesn't mean shit... the US owes itself a couple billion and it doesn't mean shit

so you know you could have 100 billion in surplus and you won't see anything happen that'll change your life in a postive way. Welcome to Politics...

You are a Country with 30million people and a per capita of 18k... you call that wealthy? I guess compared to the rest of the world you are. but you still have a bunch of Countries ahead of you

Actually the USA owes other countries over 7 TRILLION and it means a hell of a lot. They don't make it sound like it means a lot on TV, but talk to an economist, it could become a massive problem. Every American is in dept $20,000 the day he's born. Just because they ignore it on mainstream news, doesn't mean it's not a crisis waiting to happen. They have much more important things to talk about on CNN, like Scott Perterson. Canada also has a debt, but now we're making surplusses and hopefully we'll pay it off.
