I Quit My Daytime Job Of 18 Years
 

Was a great union job.I was in the petroleum industry.Basically a pump mechanic and worked on aviation equipment.The money was good..3 bucks an hour for pension and all the benefits.It sucks working for the man..I hated it but it was reliable and stable income..It comes a time for a man to make serious decisions in life and I hope I did the right thing..wish me luck

True enough..I always basically considered adult as a hobby and a good income suppliment..I've been offered another job with better money and 5 minutes away from my house..not sure if I want to jump right back in the rat race

Why didnt you stay another 2 yrs so you could retire with a pension? If you havent kept up with current events. This isnt the most stable industry in the world. I wish all the best and good luck.

In a union you get vested after a certian amount of time.In my case 7 years.If you leave the union you can take out your pension and reinvest it in your own retirement RRSP.Depending on years of service the amount varies..if I stayed longer it could maybe rise another 500 bucks per month

Congrats. At least you are out of the union now. Unions are organized thievery/extortion rackets. So hard as it is to believe that you can be moving to a MORE respectable career by becoming a fulltime pornographer, you actually have.

Thanks..I just run a few sites TGP/MGP and a bunch on MSN and yahoo..not really cutting it,so that's why I didn't pursue it full time.Trying with a localized mainstream site catering to executives..

Well I have an option of taking out what was invested and placing it in a locked in RRSP..I still have another 20 years to work and that's where the 500 came from..The monthly payment only goes up a small fraction
