DirectNic - SlicksNetwork Update !!!!
Well, my attorney got an email reply from DirectNic. They want me to confirm the models ages of the first 14 thumbs on Major Pervert. If I can do that, they say they'll let this go.
|
They did also extend the deadline, although they didn't state until when, so they are willing to work with me and making it easier on my by requesting for 14 thumbs rather than every one, so they re being more reasonable and willing to get this solved, I do appreciate that.
|
just get the 2257 pages from the sponsor and you're good to go...i think...
|
tell them to FUCK off... they arent the DOJ
|
good to hear there is contact and communications to resolve the problem
|
Sue them.
|
and the story fails to stop getting bigger..........

No, don't react like a dumb webmaster. They made a (silly) demand, but then gave you some leeway due to legal issues. Give them some leeway too, don't be an asshole (I am fairly sure you won't be). They say they want you to 'confirm', so confirm! ;) Then it's a battle won. By you.

I would comply for the sake of your domains. Then I'd move those domains off them as fast as possible. I couldn't fathom using them as a registrar after this.

Ah, sounds like good news Slick. Now you either comply and get on with business as usual, or you tell them to eat a dick and take your domain business elsewhere.
Or... you comply, then still take your business elsewhere. But in my opinion directnic are just looking out for their own best interests, as any company of good consience should be doing. If it were me I think I'd just show the proof (or get my sponsor to show the proof), and move on. SAVE ALL EMAILS AND CORRESPONDENCES pertaining to this matter though. If anything crops up like this in the future you will have some reference material to show that says you were found to be opertating above-board in the past. But hopefully nothing like this happens to you again man. Good luck. |
Does the sponsor have to get permission from the model before they give out the ID to these jackasses?

How is he going to comply. How many sponsors do you think are actually going to just hand over this info to any affiliate much less some non government entity. Furthermore, its a lowly law clerk making the demands. Maybe the law clerk should stick to studying and prepping for the bar exam. Direct NIC has no legal grounds to stand on and will lose big time if they decide to pursue this further. FUCK direct NIC |

On top of that every domain should not be locked just because there was a complaint on one of them. bye bye Directnic.. seems paying for overpriced registrations because a company has an adult history is no safer than dealing with a normal 8.99 registrar. |
Quote:
They have no LEGAL right to ask for that info. |
Slick just curious, are you going to keep your domains there? If you don't want to answer I understand...

Imma have to agree with every word of that. Don't allow a dangerous precedent to be set here Slick. |

My main domains ( only five ) are with them... Tomorrow, they will be with Sibername in CANADA |

Just for shits and grins, since it's your ATTORNEY who got the email from DirectNic, what did the ATTORNEY advise you to do? Seems like the ATTORNEY is advising you to get the IDs, no?
The backseat lawyers need to be quiet and let the man get what he paid for when he got a real lawyer. |

The only thing I can see out of this mess is to keep your domains as far away from DirectNic as possible. |

The idiots that are fucking trolling, or simply kissing Mikes ass really need to shut the fuck up and THINK for a minute or two about the ramifications of this. This is BAD, mmkay. |
I wish you stupid fucks would give me credit for having a god damned brain. So I trolled you in 2002. Skate it off and accept the fact that I too, work in this industry and have for a LONG time.
Think people. |

I guess on the plus side, once this is over, I should be cleared by them and not have to worry about this again. |
Will be interesting because 2 of the top 14 thumbs on that site were Lightspeed girls.. I know Steve L.. has posted in the past he would never give out his girls ID's.
Will he make a special exception in this case? Or will DirectNic accept the public 2257 info on their sites as proof of age? |
