Do you spank your pets?

I mean like dog or cat...
or hamster, hedgehog, fish, or iguana.

Just curious....

Spunky 12-13-2006 06:34 PM

No..I don't want my pets terrified of me.

WarChild 12-13-2006 06:35 PM

I slap my dogs in their faces and they think it's a game and try to bite my hand.

Really, what good are Rottweilers if you don't teach them to bite?

aimeesweet 12-13-2006 06:37 PM

My dog loves it when I spank him, so unfortunately it's not much of a punishment lol

shekinah 12-13-2006 06:41 PM

Well I think it's normal to pat and play with them. but not hurt them..:)

who 12-13-2006 06:42 PM

I used to punch my cat in the nose when he would shit in my shoes - it turned him into the sweetest cat you could ever meet. Wierd, I thought I was a fucking crackhead for punching him (it was very soft but he got the idea I was not happy with him). So, it turns out this guy needed a little punishment. Maybe some cats are like that... dunno about dogs..

Dude, you caused him to have brain damage! Now you have one of them so retarded it is now loyal to you... we can use it to destroy the cat overlords! You just have to keep punching it until it gets so retarded it will reveal the location of EVERY CAT OVERLORD ON THIS PLANET!

baddog 12-13-2006 06:51 PM

still in the smacking upside the head phase with Buddy, but he is learning

Ramos 12-13-2006 06:52 PM

I give Lewis Daily Beatings.

Lewis is da breast.

Scott McD 12-13-2006 06:53 PM

Nope. The cat we have now doesn't do anything like scratch the furniture or anything like that, so there's no need... :)

GooSearch 12-13-2006 06:54 PM

for discipline i use a empty 2 liter bottle of soda and hit the wall ro floor.. the noise scares them enought to get the point across

I hit my cat when need be. Now I just need to say his name in a certain tone or if he gets overly excited when playing I can raise my hand a certain way and he gets the point.

It is a pack leader thing, animals understand violence and respond to it.

Cool! :)

Ours was caged by a breeder for a year and 8 months before we, basically rescued her. She was WILD and very uncoordinated LOL But a bark in the face by a pit bull and she does't budge, fearless. The devon rex's react to vocal commands better, but as she got older she listens when she wants to :1orglaugh

SomeCreep 12-13-2006 07:05 PM

E$_manager 12-13-2006 07:54 PM

No, but if my cat is trying to eat what he shouldn't, like my daughters' hair-pin, i hit him on his nose.

BitAudioVideo 12-13-2006 08:18 PM

just jerk them up by the scruff of the neck like their mom did while giving a sharp "NO" and they will get the point quicker. dont have to be ruff for them to learn they are doing something they shoudnt.

MikeVega 12-13-2006 08:29 PM

Cyndalie .. if you want to play Pet ...I'll spank you:winkwink:

Mr Pheer 12-13-2006 08:40 PM

I dont spank my dog. She was trained with a mild shock collar as a puppy and now she is one of the best trained and best behaved german shephards I've ever seen. Very loving and mellow until she hears the command to be aggressive.

CDSmith 12-13-2006 08:52 PM

It's never a good idea to hit your dog (or cat, I suppose) anywhere on his torso, legs or hind quarters. A "spank" in the usual sense, on a dog's butt, really doesn't do much anyway as far as getting your intended message across, but it can injure the pet if too much force is used. (aka: abuse)

I firmly believe it's better to use a combination of stern tone of voice and when needed, a light tap on their nose. It's a harmless yet effective way to drive home a point with the animal, and they just plain don't like it, thus they get the hint pretty quick.

Being consistent with the disipline is the other element vital to the equation. No sense letting something slide five times and then decide on the sixth time to get off your lazy ass and kick the crap out of your pet.

I never hit, I say NO in a very authoritive voice and usually put them on their backs in a submissive posture.

Here is my new big baby..Mr. Bighead, he is totally trained ..doesnt even bark.

Absolutely. You can't reason with an animal that isn't capable of reasoning, so you have to communicate discipline and unhappiness with their behavior in the only way they know: physical discipline.

Good on you, as long as it isn't overly violent or abusive.

Exactly. I got my Boxer when she was 8 months old, she'd been basically stuck in a crate her entire life and wasn't even housebroken (she was a rescue), but doing this helped her get the point very quickly.

Jace 12-13-2006 10:21 PM

bobby666 12-13-2006 10:27 PM

No... he's not.

Hitting animals is not the way to teach them. This day and age ... we know that.

So stop hitting your dog. I hope one day he comes back and takes a chunk from your hand....

Gah ... I hate ... HATE people who hit animals.

UniversalPass Pete 12-13-2006 11:11 PM

I Spank! but not my pets:winkwink:
