I've been banned from another board.

:thumbsup

Seems Askdamage does not want me asking him anything.

They seem to think I should come running over to them to apolagise for calling someone using my content, knowing he did not have the license and without my consent or paying me for it's transfer, a pirate.

He wasn't a customer that's for sure. :1orglaugh

But me and the person concerned settled our difference of opinion, resolved the matter for free for him and we had kissed and made up. Damage was miffed I did not go say sorry to him. :1orglaugh :1orglaugh :1orglaugh

1 less board to spam on. Oh dear.

crockett 03-18-2008 07:16 AM

If I remember right.. the person bought a paysite with the content already on it.. Content that had already been bought legally.

You then tried to blackmail him on the boards calling him a theif.. isn't that about the way it went down?

You're a lowlife who tried to shake down somebody for money so that you could keep your young eastern european wife....

If you want to be super technical about it, maybe you were in the right.....But if you were such an awesome content producer with titles flying out the door like you claim....and with internet sales going through the roof like you claim, why would you nitpick with somebody over content that you already got paid for?

While I have no dog in this fight, I should mention something.

When you buy a paysite there is no guarantee that the content license/rights are transferable.

That is the first or second question I ask any seller.

BradM 03-18-2008 10:20 AM

You're an idiot Paul, I don't blame anyone for not wanting anything to do with you.

I thought that, in response to expressed concern regarding recent general business practices that Paul's adopted, he's put it out there that he's broke, and has "no choice" but to sell out to tubes.

But, then again, it's not like I've been paying the strictest attention to all the drama, so maybe I'm missing something.

AssPirate 03-18-2008 10:41 AM

woooaahhh...that sucks...anyway let it be...somehow there's reason for that...

You do have a point. Now if Paul wasn't desperate for cash, what he could of done. Since the site is full of his work and if it sells for the guy.He is going to need more eventually for updates. He could of created a on going business relationship.

rowan 03-18-2008 11:50 AM

Paul, while I may not agree with outright banning you had fair warning for several days that it was going to happen unless you apologised - not one post appeared from you defending yourself or explaining why you shouldn't apologise, when you're usually quite vocal about things.

Keeeepppp digging, Mr. Martyr. :1orglaugh

bashbug 03-18-2008 01:03 PM

No it's not.

The content was never bought, a license to use the content was bought. The license is written to a person not a site, the license is not for transfer by that person. It has to be transfered by us. The original seller knew this and ignored it, the new buyer found it out when I told him and still used the content.

Two points. If someone buys a license to publish or view he has to abide by the terms of the license. Otherwise a member can think he has a right to buy a membership and post the site on Torrents. Same twist on ignoring licenses.

If it were the original buyers right to transfer the license how do we stop sites like Megarotic and Zango picking up legal content for cheap.

The sites with our content are still up, the content is still being used and no license has been issued to the new owners. In some sort of contact with them over ICQ, it's dragging on.

The original buyer was also breaking the terms of the license by using some inside the affiliates area and by selling the license. I wonder if Damage allows his members and affiliates to ignore his Terms of Service as easily as he thinks I should?

Because the content was never bought. A license was bought. Why do people moan if a member signs up and think he's bought the content to do with as he pleases?

Why don't I just let any original buyer do as he please with the "content he buys" because I have other clients who bother to stick to the rules. Maybe I should ignore them.
