I was just watching on the news, his family is on the same page as the judge so probably the whole time.

kane 05-09-2008 01:02 PM

He should have gotten more. You drink, the race down the street because you think you are a Nascar driver, wreck and cause your friend to be disabled for life you should get more than 8 months. Just my opinion.

Casa Nova 05-09-2008 01:02 PM

Wow... that's crazy, I didn't expect him to get that much.

Not like his family is not rich enough to hire a driver. I'm not sure why more rich people don't. 8 months that's county lock up not prison.

mx8829 05-09-2008 01:05 PM

this was waiting to happen. in their show you can see hulk always was easy on him, and didnt think he treated his son the same was as he did with his daughter.

you dont buy your teenager a sports car. you let the bugger get more experience bhind the wheel first

With you on that one. A LOT MORE...

Sly 05-09-2008 01:06 PM

What did he do? I don't really pay attention to stuff like that...

He was racing another car he crash and hurt his passenger. A passenger which I'm sure was 100% aware of Hogan's son's propensity to drag race but got into the car anyways.

His friend, A US Marine, is now in a permanent "vegetative state".

Nick deserved much more than 8 months in jail, probation and not being able to drive.

:2 cents:

CurrentlySober 05-09-2008 01:09 PM

How does his sentence compare to that of an everyday person?

I personally think its too lenient anyway, but have no idea what the sentence would be to a 'non celeb' if you get my meaning?

pornguy 05-09-2008 01:10 PM

He should have gotten more

Basically he and a friend were drinking (they are way underage) then Nick decided to grab one of the family sports cars and drive. Nick wants to be a race car driver so the thinks he is Dale Earnhardt Jr., but of course he isn't so while speeding and being an asshole who is under the influence he ends up wrecking the car. His friend, the passenger lived, but has permanent brain damage and will need full time nursing care for the rest of his life.

I didn't say he deserved less, i was commenting on the fact that I didn't expect him to get that much due to his "celebrity" status.

Sly 05-09-2008 01:15 PM

So did he kidnap this friend?

BusterBunny 05-09-2008 01:17 PM

shit hulk bought the alcohol he should get more time than his kid:2 cents:

I agree.

Also, being on probation is NO joke. Sometimes trouble just finds you.
It's going to be tough for him not to do something to land in jail again, his probation will probably be 10 years.

Martin 05-09-2008 01:23 PM

Welll his frned was dumb enough to get in the car.. I don't agree with the "he shoud have gotten more" people.

Let me aks you. Would YOU get into a car of a friend you KNOW is drunk and also has a propensity for speeding? If you did and you got hurt are you totally blameles for your situation ? Are you 100% victim? I think not. What if his buddy didn't get hurt and instead a pedestain got killed? What would your opinion of this friend be knowing that he KNEW Hogans kid was drunk and let him drive anyways?

means he serves his time in the county jail not state prison. Which I'm sure is unpleasent but MUCH better than prison. No one goes to prison if they have to serve under a year.

Mahem 05-09-2008 01:33 PM

kind of...but remember this county does not breakdown into groups depending on crime and prisoner status everyone is mixed together so depending on county he is in could be pretty rough.....like LA county or Reitgers Island New York....etc.
he will get fucked with

smoke 05-09-2008 01:35 PM

He has to serve all 8 months and has credit for 1 day served. 5 years probation, 500 hours community service - the judge said he wouldn't be allowed to do any speaking engagements as a part of his service. 3 years suspended license and he's not allowed to touch alcohol for 5 years, even after he turns 21. If I understood correctly the felony was dropped. Now the civil case will begin and the hogans will be taken to the cleaners.

I disagree, county can be worse than prison in some cases. County is nothing more than a holding tank for people awaiting trial and waiting to go to prison. It's very plausible to be there with people looking to make a name for themselves and gain some respect awaiting transfer to federal prison. If anything there is probably more respect and code in prison than county jail. Kind of like wannabes versus the real thing.

True, he will most likely serve his 8 months in Pinellas County Jail and he will meet real killers in route to prison. Not as easy as some people think. Maybe he can become a cook.

The friend that got hurt is not without blame. He chose to get in the car knowing that Nick was drunk and liked to race. He is a victim, but a victim - in a way - by choice because he put himself in that situation. Still when you get behind the wheel you are responsible for the people in the car. We don't know all the facts that led to them getting in the car ( or at least I don't) so we can't full assess blame on any one person. But in the end Nick was driving, he has to take responsibility. The kid made a mistake for letting Nick drive. Nick made a bigger mistake for choosing to drive.

If he had hit a pedestrian and the pedestrian was killed he should have gotten a hell of a lot more than 8 months. I mean years, maybe decades. Drunk driving is 100% avoidable. If you choose to drink and drive and something goes wrong you should be punished harshly for it.

Does anyone know for sure if he was wearing a seat belt or not? There is pretty much no damage to the passanger side.

No he was not.

LiveDose 05-09-2008 02:58 PM

Wake up call for a spoiled shit.

TheDoc 05-09-2008 03:00 PM

Humm... No seatbelt?

Welp, no reason for the guy to be in jail if the friend was to stupid to put a seatbelt on or say stop and let me out.

BetChips 05-09-2008 03:14 PM

Hope he doesn't drop the soap, bubba's gonna get'em .

Skillz Unlimited 05-09-2008 03:33 PM

Kid should not have had that car in the first place. Driving those types of cars is a privelage that needs to be earned through lots of hard work. He's too young to know what real hard work is. This is what happens when those type of cars fall into the wrong hands.

So driving recklessly while drunk should be forgotten as long as anyone in the car with you wasn't wearing a seatbelt?

I think if a person gets a DUI they should go to jail. Maybe they shouldn't have their lives ruined because we all make mistakes, but there should be very harsh and severe punishments for anyone that drives drunk.
