Recommend a good Movie !!

Anyone seen a good one that is out on DVD ... I want one that is weird but still keeps my attention. I liked the Nines alot and something like Donny Darko .. What ya got :thumbsup

GetSCORECash 07-05-2008 11:27 AM

Sara, I haven't seen either one of those movies.

But here is a good chick flick, "Love in the Time of Cholera" which I enjoyed.

Stellar 07-05-2008 11:31 AM

Yeah.. Do not rent love in the time of cholera.. The age makeup is a joke.

It's hard to find good movies that you haven't seen.

Minus Man - is good and slightly offbeat.

Chopper - with Eric Bana was fucking fantastic... I highly suggest it.

Cant remember the name,...group of people go cruising on a yahght 3000 miles from shore and all decide to go for a dip in the water untill they realize, they cant climb back up without latter in shark infested water...something Oceans?

chodadog 07-06-2008 01:47 AM

I saw an oldie I've been meaning to see for years just recently. The Killing Fields. I've become pretty interested in the Indo-China region in the last couple of years after reading Pol Pot: History of a Nightmare by Philip Short and The Gate by Francois Bizot. For anyone interested in the Khmer Rouge, I'd highly recommend it.

The OP asked for movies that are "weird" and like "Donnie Darko." Let's stay on topic.

You want something dark, mysterious and possibly sci-fi. How about "Dark City"? Ever see that? It was made by the same director of "The Crow". Both films have a film noir feel to it, as did "Donnie Darko." I really liked "Zodiac" (your boy Jake's in it) which I saw a couple of months ago. That movie is dark for the most part. 90% of it takes place at night. It isn't "weird" though.

Equilibrium, starring Christian Bale. It's a few years old now (2002) but is amazing and I'm always surprised how many people have never seen it.

I also recommend Dark City and 12 Monkeys.

Dark City would be perfect. I saw someone mention a Christian Bale movie below the post I'm quoting. Equilibrium is alright, but The Machinist is incredible.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: Donnie Darko is garbage.

StuBradley 07-06-2008 03:55 PM

Oh, I forgot 'Vanilla Sky". That's a pretty trippy flick if you haven't seen it already.

st0ned 07-06-2008 04:07 PM

Fracture was definitely one of the best movies I have seen recently.

mynameisyep 07-06-2008 04:10 PM

Two different types of movies, but both equally good. The Machinst was definitely incredible, I agree.
