Probably whoever runs is, does not hang out here :-|

Bump for you

Phil 11-21-2008 01:01 AM

Jarmusch 11-21-2008 01:03 AM

A simple .htaccess redirection takes care of that.

Bump for you

This is not a small splif but a huge blunt, ~4k @ Alexa, this is why I thought maybe someone knows the owner or he hangs out here...

I asked MojoHost to block these countries plus China/Brazil but these blocks caused my server to become unreliable and after several meltdowns we decided to remove the block. Instead of a list of countries to block they asked me to provide a list of countries which are allowed... As that could be shorter... If anyone has a list I need for this project please send me asap... Yes, this list starts with US/CA/UK... :pimp

"nginx doesn't read htaccess files, and a block this long would cause problems for its configs. There are almost 30,000 entries to block the requested countries"

(answer from Mojo)

I was talking about redirecting by domain, not by countries.

Use the code bellow in your root .htaccess file and send those bastards to wherever you want. :pimp

Code:

RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} sexofree\.org [NC]
RewriteRule .* http://www.sendthemhere.com/ [R=301,L]

AnniKN 11-21-2008 01:16 AM

He's Spanish I believe, and is only using the site to promote his program: http://www.micropagosx.com/ where they sell stuff via SMS. He makes money off his own program.

It is about alexa rank 400 in my country and has been around for years apparently, yet I had never ever seen it :-|

Spanish speaking market is extremely under exploited and unregulated, really crappy sites are incredibly famous and despite people lacking knowledge in many useful things for the net, they are very familiar with the shady stuff even if they don't speak English to use THAT torrent program.

We're in 2002 as far as construction and design, but we've been in 2008 for piracy for many years now :-|

Best of luck with this :( go with what Jarmusch says!

Thanks, but I have nginx running on my server and it has an own "policy" and does not use .htaccess :( [I admit I am a noob about this theme - this is why I go for managed hosting]
But I appreciate your help a lot! ;)

Matyko 11-21-2008 03:53 AM

they haven't responded yet, but my galleries disappeared from the site.
I just checked with statcounter and it reports only a few hits probably from bookmarks..
Hooray! :)

Machete_ 11-21-2008 04:02 AM

I think you should have redirected the trafic to a galleryhup with PPC or Freejoins instead, or even a Hosted TGP.

ALL traffic can be converted, and its downright stupid to turn a free trafficsouce down

Yes, probably it can be converted, but: I usually don't do business with thieves and taking care of this is not my job, I've already lost too much time because of these supercool guys...

He is not a thief - he sends you free traffic

All you had to do was add 5 lines of text to your .htaccess and redirect it either to a Hosted TGP or one of the many companies that buy traffic.

That way you could had turned the free massive traffic in to instant cash.

Instead you closed down a traffic source

.. its really not smart business

At least think of that next time it happens

HorseShit 11-21-2008 06:00 AM

Then you use a PhP script or configure it in the server itself.

Its not like there arent solutions to track and redirect referer hits based on domain.

Go play in the contest topics idiot

I understand what you say, but you know I just want to do my work and finish my projects and live my life and don't want to waste time for issues like this and find out something how can I get any money out of the situation.

If the owner of this site would think I can make any money on this he would ask me for a gallery list, anybody can get my contact with maximum 3 clicks from a gallery...

And YES, this is theft in my opinion as I was never asked if I want this or whatever.

Even if he removed my galleries that site is FULL of probably stolen unique galleries and he is most likely making money on other ads and uses our bandwidth (without permission) to attract visitors to his site.

The owner of this site made me extra expense because of the bandwidth his visitors burned during weeks/months of usage, my recently my server became unreliable because of not wanted traffic [i spend valuable hours to get these resolved...] and made me unhappy and be able to work less on my important, honest money making projects and daily tasks.

why dont you complain about google while you are at it?... they proberly list you as well and send traffic to your sites you never asked for... jesus christ!!

JamesK 11-21-2008 09:21 AM

Sending traffic to a site is not theft and you should see it as an opportunity. Ebus is 100% right.

Are you kidding? This traffic I got has nothing to do with the quality of Google's traffic.

andy83 11-21-2008 09:55 AM

agreed with ebus, u should probably sell that traffic using a referral script or something to traffic brokers. this way u get free $$$
:)

AnniKN 11-21-2008 10:15 AM

But that traffic would be all useless, from "low quality" countries, and then HE would be labelled a thief!

This is the same set up than that of a tube, using other people's stuff to upsell cams, dating, games and cell phone goodies, however, he is not stealing content per se, just bandwidth, because he KNOWS, that no one is looking to join a paysite...

It's CLICKED traffic !!! - that is VALUABLE traffic for gods sake. Just because you dont know how to convert it, dont make it useless.

Agent 488 11-21-2008 10:30 AM

should have redirected it to spanish friend finder and made some $ off it.

Maybe its valuable if you're prepared for it and if you're an expert of what to do with it. I didnt want it. It was harmful to me. I hate to take care of annoying situations like this. Believe me: I've lost more than I could make. My time is golden ;)
