What if it was Butthole Bangers at the bottom of the sea? :)

Jim_Gunn 12-28-2008 10:16 PM

I just watched the end of the Sunday Night Football game via over-the-air NBC HD with my rabbit ear antenna just to check the quality of my new tv and I was impressed. And I don't even care about football! I recently purchased a Sharp Aquos 52" LCD HDTV at Brandsmart here in South Florida. I have DirecTV service but the brand new receiver & DVR their installer brought me yesterday was defective so I have to wait to get a replacement!

I've been watching Legend of the Seeker and it has some pretty cool parts that are completely made for the HD viewers. In the pilot they had an arrow fly over the girl's head and towards the TV. It was pretty freaking amazing.

I love my HDTV

Sly 12-28-2008 10:58 PM

To tell you the truth, I think Planet Earth was just beautifully shot. I have an HDTV but I don't have HD service, and Planet Earth Looks simply amazing on it. They did a wonderful job with that series.

baddog 12-28-2008 11:01 PM

I refuse to watch porn on my big screen.

110 inch JVC

I think LCD had caught up to CRT in numbers but just like the old 33s I think CRT has a certian something that can't be caught by a measuring device.

mmcfadden 12-28-2008 11:46 PM

every body needs to be shot!!... think about it...

Xrated J 12-28-2008 11:50 PM

i put that on every morning when i wake up :thumbsup

borked 12-29-2008 12:01 AM

Its the equipment they use. Amazing quality. I loved the prog where they capture the great white breaching to get the seal... They improvised a 100 grand camera with some duct tape and a dorbell so as not to waste precious disk space filming unnecessrily

tranza 12-29-2008 07:55 AM

The quality is just amazing!

Yngwie 12-29-2008 08:19 AM

I bought a 46 inch Toshiba Regza tv.. Haven't gotten to test 1080p yet, but I did play games at 1080i. If my xbox 360 had an hdmi plug I would have been able to do 1080p, but I'm stuck with component video cables and no matter what I do it won't do 1080p. Oddly enough, my brother gets 1080p using component video on his xbox 360. What I really want to test is movies at 1080p, but with component video cables it makes regular dvds 480p. It won't upscale it to 1080i or p. hdmi would though.

HorseShit 12-29-2008 08:23 AM

barely legal in HD 2c

StuartD 12-29-2008 08:26 AM

Yeah, I got the Planet Earth series this Christmas cause I put it on my wish list, and I'm glad I did.
It's truly amazing at 1080p! I've watched a few episodes over and over again... including the episode where the mountain cougar thing chases the goat down the side of the mountain. It's insane how fast they could go straight up and down a rock!

mikesouth 12-29-2008 08:27 AM

jim interestingly enough that hdtv signal you got over the air is higher quality than the one you will get via cable, you probably wont tell the diff though. and of course cable is less affected by interferance.

HDTV aint the future...its the present and once you go to it...you cant go back

It's funny you say that... I talked the wife into a plasma and even after watching some movies, she still felt that it wasn't all that people made it out to be, it just wasn't worth the money to get it.
THEN... we went to visit her family, who still have regular old boob tubes around the house and she sat down to watch a movie....

"omg! This looks terrible! Did we really watch movies like this?"

She may not have seen the plus in moving up to HD, but she can certainly see the negative in going back! :1orglaugh

brand0n 12-29-2008 08:47 AM

i <3 butthole bangers in hd

I agree, nature shows in HD is bloody brilliant.

Jim_Gunn 12-29-2008 08:55 AM

BTW, LCD > Plasma. Not even a comparison. Looking at Plasma is like looking at HDTV through a glass window which is partially opaque and reflective, while looking at LCD is like looking directly at brilliant HDTV.

Jim you sound like a lcd salesman. lol

Tom_PM 12-29-2008 10:20 AM

Cool series :) A great use of HD!

BradM 12-29-2008 10:23 AM

Agreed. So lets see some tits in HD now please.

notime 12-29-2008 10:50 AM

Especially the "behind the scenes" on all 6 dvds are the best I ever seen

I just bought a 50" Plasma and the screen is pretty reflective during the day but I watch it mostly at night so it didn't matter to me.

What did matter was the deeper blacks than an LCD and no motion blur like you might find in an LCD. I think there is plenty to compare between Plasma and LCD and viewing habits are important to consider.

Haven't seen Planet Earth yet as I'm still looking for a Blu-Ray player but it will be the first disc I buy :)

SarahLLO 12-29-2008 10:58 AM

I want the Planet Earth DVD set very badly. You're lucky.

undersoul 12-29-2008 10:59 AM

that is AMAZING in HD a MUST see

InternetIsForPorn 12-29-2008 11:04 AM

*looks at 2 42" 1080p's used as dual view monitors*

*looks at 50" 720p used as a TV*

Yeah, I'm all set with HD.

although 1080p is SO overrated in terms of games and movies.

Almost none games run at 1080p (they're upscaled) and movies look almost identical - be it 720p or 1080p. My PS3 upscales everything to 720p -- even tube porn via Tversity.

farkedup 12-29-2008 11:30 AM

I absolutely loved that box. I watched it on computer monitors in 1080p and mostly watched on a 100" 720p projector... absolutely STUNNING. I'll take 100" 720p over 46" 1080p any day.

Imortyl Pussycat 12-29-2008 11:36 AM

that series is amazing in HD

Why not just buy a PS3?
