Broncos to trade Jay Cutler...

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=4031893

What a fucking retarded move.

They get rid of shanahan, and bring in this mcdaniels dude who is nothing but ego.

They are going to regret this for a long time.

hypedough 03-31-2009 11:22 PM

Dumb fucking move. They're not getting Matt Cassell, get over it.

dynastoned 03-31-2009 11:26 PM

the broncos as an organization went to shit in a matter of a couple months.

Luscious Media 04-01-2009 02:31 AM

Poor bastard is going to end up in Detriot.

He will not go to detriot, detriot is going to bank on there newbie in the first round draft. Bitchler will go to Minnesota, or chicago

sicone 04-01-2009 02:37 AM

Dumb move on Denvers part, but could be the best thing ever for Cutler, depending on where he goes

split_joel 04-01-2009 02:39 AM

If Cutler goes to the bears, which I do not want I believe ortan will come through, bears would be unstoppable.

Bring back John Elway.

PR_Sebas 04-01-2009 06:08 AM

may as well if he doesnt want to play for them anymore

Snake Doctor 04-01-2009 06:16 AM

That's crazy. You can't get fair value for a good QB in a trade.

1st round quarterbacks only work out 50% of the time, so you'd need 2 first round picks to replace him. (Plus 2-3 years to develop the guy)
Hell, the other 2 first round quarterbacks taken the same year as Cutler are both busts.

TBH, this is probably more Cutler's doing than the Broncos. Since if he gets traded he can get a new contract now, and not have to play out the remaining two years of his rookie deal. The new head coach/qb coach coming to town was just the cover his agent needed to pull this off IMO.

Daddy Big Nuts 04-01-2009 06:35 AM

The Bucs are going to throw their hat back in that ring. Bet on it. I'd gladly give up 2 number 1's for Cutler.

You and every other Buc fan in the world. It would be a perfect fit. The Bucs run that quazi west coast offense with the zone blocking and downhill run game that sets up the play action pass beautifully. That has Cutler written all over it.

As a true Falcon fan let me be the first to say....I hope you dont get him ;)

LOL.....yeah man. It would be a perfect fit. Adding him on top of Winslow and Ward makes for a potent offense. Bucs fans wouldn't quite know what to do: cheer or faint. We've never had one!

cykoe6 04-01-2009 07:34 AM

What a catastrophe. Bowlen is a bumbling old drunk fool and McDaniels is a preening primadonna. They both are a fucking disgrace.

brassmonkey 04-01-2009 07:35 AM

oh ok thanx

UFGators2007 04-01-2009 09:47 AM

Wonderful decision.

farkedup 04-01-2009 09:52 AM

Cutler is in the bottom end of being a top 10 QB but he is far more Brett Favre like than tony HOMO is. Cutler throws pics at some of the worst moments but has the balls to come right back in and thread the same exact pass in there next time.

He has his ups and downs but Favre is by far the greatest QB of all time. Hopefully my Lions will give him the Cowboys first rounder they got and nothing else which would mean they sent a lazy overrated WR to Dallas in exchange for Cutler!

MetaMan 04-01-2009 09:54 AM

Broncos i live and die by and im ready to cry after this, first Shanahan and now Cutler? wtf are they smoking on?

Cutler is a fucking cannon. they need to just chill out in the organization they picked up Dawkins and should help clear up SOME of their D probs, without the O they are nothing.

farkedup 04-01-2009 10:06 AM

I got it, Denver has the #12 selection and the Lions desperately want out of the #1 slot since nobody this year deserves #1 pay..

swap #1 for #12 and send them that first 2nd round pick for Cutler. Toss in Kitna or something LMAO

Cutler has the Broncos bent over so paying "market value" for Cutler would be stupid. Offer up 2 of your first 4 picks but certainly not both 1st rounders! Toss in a veteran somewhere and go about building through the draft. Cutler would then have the next randy moss to throw to except Calvin actually works hard with what he has which is something moss never did. Fill in the void with a couple of guys with good hands through FA like Torry Holt then you can draft almost all defense.

I really believe that if they can get Cutler for a steal they're a playoff team in 2-3 years. The new management so far seems slick. They sure did dupe the cowboys out of a LOT

Socks 04-01-2009 10:08 AM

lol they said the team's coach, GM and possibly owner have been trying to contact Cutler for 10 days, and he won't return their phone calls - prompting them to trade him..

lollllll..

I guess you've never heard of guys like Joe Montana or Dan Marino or John Elway?

Favre is probably in the top 10, but greatest of all time?

HAH!

Well considering that Kitna was traded to Dallas in Feb this can't happen.

Tough to say he's the greatest of all time.....but he's probably in the top 5....way within the top 10.

Not more Cutlers doing, he busted his ass to show he was a top QB, McDaniels came in and said you may not be our man I'm going after Cassell. They should have never went public with wanting him. He fucked up big time. McDaniels has the stupid New England ego and wants everything his way.

Now they are going from a great QB, to trying to hopefully pick up one in the draft.

Your cred in this thread ended with that statement.

Sorry.

As for the Cutler trade I heard rumblings about it last month and I think I even posted about it's coming. No surprise here. I'm sure he'll thrive in a new market and then all the broncos fans will say "See? We shudda kept him!"... but it doesn't work that way. He and Denver were just spinning their wheels every year as far as I could tell.

LeRoy 04-01-2009 10:19 AM

Not a good move for them :(

Are they still gonna run that same offense now that Gruden is gone?

No way the Broncos would take that deal.

Nobody wants the #1 overall pick. NOBODY.
It's a weight around a franchise's neck, more of a curse than a blessing.....since that's a rookie you have to give $30M guaranteed to...and there's no clear cut #1 player this year.

Cutler doesn't have the Broncos bent over because they own his ass for the next two years. If he holds out, he doesn't get paid.

The Broncos might want the 1st rounder you got from the Cowboys for Roy Williams. Maybe both of the Cowboys picks (1st and 3rd) plus a conditional pick next year depending on Cutler's playing time/performance.
Then the Lions could use that #1 overall pick on a left tackle, move Backus to the right side, and then Cutler won't get concussed his first game in Detroit.

Of course, all of that depends on whether or not Cutler wants to go to Detroit, because he could refuse to sign a contract extension with them if he didn't want to play there, and that would kill the trade.

Anyways, I rambled a bit there but my main point is that if you think the Broncos are going to give you Cutler in exchange for moving up 11 spots in the 1st round to a spot that nobody wants, and a 2nd rounder, you've lost your mind.

Also, FWIW, it was the OLD management that got that deal from the Cowboys. Come to think of it, the new management is the old management. All of those front office guys were already there.

It's still more Cutler's doing.

He's the big fucking crybaby who won't answer the phone like a girl because he got his feelings hurt.

Plus I've read articles that said he was trying to get traded after they let the QB coach go, months ago......but that it was done on the down low....and then once the Cassell rumors leaked that was his opening to go public so that he would look like the innocent bystander and the team would look like the bad guy.

In today's NFL, everyone is expendable. He needs to quit being a crybaby (and TBH I don't think he is upset about it...that's just the cover story...getting traded gets him paid like Romo and Rodgers just got paid, and that's what this is really all about)

He'll get paid regardless. McDaniels is fuck, plain and simple. He's going to fuck that team up and be hated there in two years.

They made some huge mistakes. Most QB's are crybabies, just part of the job.

All he ever wanted was to be told he was their go to guy, they would never do that. And when they got rid of Shanny he was told by the owner straight up he has nothing to worry about.

He feels lied to, and not trusted. And the coach totally just gave ego to him. McDaniels is more concerned with everyone knowing it's his show to run, and not making the team happy.

Possible but Minnesota doesn't have anything to trade in terms of draft picks. My guess is Chi, NYC maybe SF but Singletary doesn't seem like he is going to put up with prima donnas

Favre is probably in the top 10, but greatest of all time?

HAH!

Marino exits the argument for simply not being a WINNER, nobody cares what records you own if you don't take your team to a title.

Elway nearly fell into the Dan Marino file except late in his career a big man named Davis carried his ass to the promised land.

I am a HUGE Montana fan and without a doubt he's the only man that has a real argument for being better than Favre. Montana is the ultimate winner with ice water running through his veins. He also played on without a doubt the greatest team of his era with nobody even coming close. I just can't rid myself of him limping around in a brace in a chiefs uniform but bringing that sorry ass team to the playoffs.

Manning and Brady will deserve being in that argument in the near future.

Simple fact is remove a couple of Favres late seasons, have him retire a few years ago and he's way higher on everybody's lists of top QB's. He greatly harmed his legacy in his later years and that insane collapse with the Jets and the divorce with the pack.

With Favre it just depends on if "fun" enters your rankings. I've never enjoyed AND hated watching a player more. Montana and Brady are both alike but are fairly robot like and and predictable. They are conservatives who are afraid to chuck the ball down the field. Montana was a great short yardage QB that nickel and dimed you on yardage but he didn't have the "gun" of an Elway or Favre. Elway became a champ when he LOST his gunslinger ways. If Favre could have lost his gunslinger ways the Jets may have gone to the Super Bowl just like the year before the Pack would have if Favre wouldn't have been trying to rocket shit in there like he used to. If Favre could have pulled an Elway the Pack quite possibly would have gone back to back champs since they really had a LOT of talent on both sides of the ball.

Actually the deal was after Millen was fired and yes these are guys that were there before but Millen made it clear he was calling ALL of the shots and had final say on everything.

So far with what the new guys did to the Cowboys I have some hope with them. I don't like some of the cuts they made but overall they seem to be making solid trades and cut some cap space in some ways that for the most part made sense. I expected some form of major free agent but maybe they want to model themselves like the Packers did and grow with inhouse talent.

Don't forget Cutler says the owner promised him the offensive coaches would stay which the owner later denied.

Firing Shannahan was something that shocked the hell out of me and I'm sure it shocked everybody on the team. Shanny is simply a coaching legend. He's a shitty GM for the most part but a GOOD coach. I think the owner had to fire the GM but it happened to be his coach too. I think they should have at least made sure they had a capable coach in the wings before firing shanny. Cutler is coming off a great season and he has no faith in the young coach so he wants out. a LOT of shit happened in the offices at Denver this off season. I don't think ANY teams are going to be jumping all over Cutler right now. They all know they longer they wait the more Cutler will bend the Broncos over and a better deal can be had.

Anybody who doesn't think Cutler is in control of this situation is on CRACK! 9ers are out for sure, SIngletary is not the kind of coach Cutler wants. I wish SIngletary was coach of the Lions thats for sure. In the end Cutler signing an extension with the new team is what controls the entire trade. If Cutler can't work a deal with the bucs he won't go there, I seriously doubt he wants to deal with the PITA bears fans. They are just as loud and annoying as Philly fans. I think the Bears are gonna hold out for mcnabb.

agree with ya for sure... Gruden is exactly the coach Cutler would love. The new staff has too many question marks.

Fox sports possibilities of where cutler can go didn't include the Vikings WTF! I really think T-Jack is a joke and they badly need to upgrade a QB. Hell even talking Favre out of retirement would be a huge upgrade for them. Vikings with a QB means top 5 team easy! Shit when that running game gets going they're a top 5 team no matter who's under center.

There was no way he can change his style of play at this late in his career. Once Holmgram left GB it was over, because Brett lost the guy that made him great and could chew his ass. He let his mechanics go to shit and was to big of a star to listen to anyone else. All he had left was his Gunslinger ways. By the middle of last season age really caught up with him his arm was so tired he didn't even have that. He was through.
