I have posted some hints there about how to lose weight I am a PE teacher and I lost 10kg in 3 months (it is not much and was not really fast all I did was to add more exercises to my daily routine and eat less - appetite suppressants can be really useful) |
I lost 70lbs over a three month period once. 240 to 170.
Main rule of thumb I had was not to eat anything after 6pm. Except maybe a little protien snack like Deli Turkey or cheese before bed but absolutely no carbs. Hit the gym every morning and burned at least 500 calories with cardio and ate sensible throughout the day with multiple small meals. Think oatmeal, turkey bacon, fruit, salads and chicken. Didnt deprive myself of treats like cookies and ice cream but made sure none of that stuff after 6. And a crap load of Diet Coke. :1orglaugh |
Its really really easy if you have good self control. I was working out and running 3 miles, 5 days a week and I couldn't figure out why I wasn't losing any weight.
I had a hard long look at my diet and there was my answer. The average person burns about 2,500 calories per day, more if you are over-weight because your body has to work harder. 3,500 calories equals 1 pound of fat on your body. So do the math... Here is an example below of how I used to eat. Adds up to 4,810 calories and I didn't even really pig out. I was burning probably about 3,500 calories naturally and another 1,000 by working out and running. At the end of the day I still had a surplus of 300+ Calories so even with working out and running 5 days per week I was still putting on a pound of fat every 10 days or so. Breakfast - Two bowls of cereal 2% milk = 500 Calories Mid afternoon snack - bagel = 400 Calories Lunch - Carls Jr Chicken sandwich w/ Fries and coke = 1,200 Calories Before dinner snack - Peanut Butter and Jelly w/ glass of milk = 600 calories Dinner - Pizza 4 slices w/ 2 servings of Juice = 1,310 4 Beers and pretzels = 800 Calories = 4,810 calories If I wasn't working out, I would have put on a pound every 2-3 days eating like this. Hope this helps. :thumbsup |
im gonna try out the bannana diet until end of october... youtube what the bannana diet is.. ill also throw in some smart for life cookies in that diet and see how that goes lol
|
If you really wanna lose weigt start running (joggin).
Start slow .. walking and easy running the first week. Then max up to half a mile in the second week, 1 mile within one month and 2 miles till the end of the second month. Do your exercise 3 - 4 times per week with with one day brake between runs (so that the muscles can recover). Then keep up 2 miles 3 to 4 times per week and your good. But don't forget to eat healthier . Vegetables, fruits .. but also meat and food that contain carbohydrates (drinks with sugar in it, spaggeti and other) for the energy you'll need. (or else you'll lose your motivation quickly) |
i forgot to mention that smoking crack works pretty well to :2 cents:
|
In 07 I was around 244 pounds, I hired myself a personal trainer and Lost around 38 solid pounds. Took me about 6 months. I was eating everything but in small portions. i worked out about 3 times a week and didn't eat anything after PM
|

Iv seen so many of my friends try and loose weight fast as they need to look for an event coming up, but it never works. You need to go slow rather then push it all into 2 months.
Walking is your best friend. Walk 3 km per day, everyday - even weekends. Lay off snacks like chips, biscuts, bread. Stick with 3 means a day, nothing in between. Don't eat within 3 hours of sleeping, your body has to work twice as hard to cut it down. Drink lots of water when you need something, it will fill you up. I lost 26kg in 12 months. I was 140kg, im now 114kg. |
Cut sugar, eat low fat or fat free everything.
|
don't eat
|
I lost 20 kilos in past 2 years. I was 95 kg (on my 177cm height) and now I'm 75kg.
First I was on Atkins Diet. In about 4 months I lost 13 kilos eating mostly meat and vegetables lowering carbons/sugar usage. After that I just stopped eating some things or lowered their use. Today I eat smaller amounts of food, I eat lees bread (also baked stuff and pizzas), I eat more regularly and use less sweets (I was addicted to chocolate before), 2 months ago I stopped drinking soda drinks (coca-cola and other crap) and I feel like never before. And now the main part! Belive it or not it's all in your head. If for example you stop drinking coke. Your body will ask for it couple of days, maybe a week, and after that when you are detoxicated from that shit, your body will no longer ask for it. BUT what's with your mind? Will you want to drink it again? Do you feel bad/unhappy that you can't drink it? So where is the problem in fact? I know that quitting such thing is not an easy task (trust me I done it couple of times). BUT all you need to do is to convince yourself that YOU WILL BE BETTER if you do not drink that shit: you will loose weight, live healthier, eat less sugar, have better teeth.......... Today 2 months later I am totally resistant to coke since I convinced myself that I don't need that shit. Coke advertisements do no longer affect me. My friends that drink coke when we go out don't affect me. Really I don't care and I feel really good. So by building your self your body will build up too. It's all in your head! |
EXERCISE daily. more veggies, try to not eat crap all of the time. it's not rocket science.
|

Other than that, the most beneficial thing for me has been finding a regular strenuous activity that you enjoy doing. For me it's tennis. I have been to the gym maybe twice since I started playing tennis regularly again, whereas before, the gym WAS my main form of exercise. I can do a lot more playing tennis and I enjoy it, so ultimately I now have a good habit I can stick to. Basically the best general advice is to figure out your bad habits that you have the best chance of eliminating successfully and good habits/improvements you can make that you have the best chance of keeping up, do those first, and see where you're at in a few months. People keep doing diets and exercise routines that they know full well they will only do temporarily and likewise it only grants them temporary weight loss. |
Walk 3-4miles per day (get a treadmill), eat mostly chicken/tuna/salad - basicly as much as you want = I lost 12-14kg in 3 months... just do it - its NOT HARD
|
By the way, if you're more than 20-30 lbs overweight, don't just take up jogging/running. You have a large chance of fucking up your knees. Both cartilage and ligaments can get permanently damaged that way, effects which could last a lifetime.
Instead, take up something like walking or cycling if you're seriously overweight. It will help you gain the muscle needed to reduce risk when stressing your joints, while also helping reduce your weight. |
i lost more than 60 kg since February last year... I am feeling like new and is so damn great :)
Good luck to you! |
When I was married I was 230 and now I am 198 lean and ripped. I bottomed out at 175 then I hit the gym and packed on some muscle.
Here's what I did...Golden Rule Numero Uno: STOP OVEREATING AND START MOVING. That alone knocked most the weight off in less than 2 months. It sounds tedious and not-so-glamorous but count your calories while you're trying to lose weight. If you weight lift and are trying to pack on mass, you should also count your calories. If you want to maintain your weight you should count your calories. OK...get it? You should be counting your calories no matter who you are. I have an awesome app for my iPhone. It's called "Tap and Track" and I use it religiously. I was shocked to see how I was going over my allotted from just a few small snacks here and there. Now I make better choices when I can visually see how many calories I have left to consume for the day. It's awesome and it works very well at keeping you on track. I also eat low-carb. I carb up right after a workout but otherwise avoid carbs the rest of the day. The carbs I avoid are the bread and starchy variety. High-fiber carbs in veges I consider "safe." Yeah, yeah, yeah...not eating after 6pm is a very good idea. Mostly because it's that snacking that will blow your calories for the day but it's also a good idea to get good rest and going to bed with a full stomach keeps you from resting. I once read that, when you go to bed with a full stomach, a full 70% of your body's energy is spent on digestion. How much rest do you think you're getting in that kind of metabolic environment? None! Rest is key when bodybuilding and for life. So no snacking in the evening is a definite Golden Rule. Drink TONS and TONS of water every day. You need it to survive and it helps in keeping your system flushed of toxins. If you're trying to lose weight your body is a very toxic environment. Drink water. And speaking of drinks...if you're a soda drinker, you're going to be fat. If not now, sooner or later. I only drink ZERO CALORIE beverages (water, iced tea, coffee on occasion). Fall in love with Splenda if you have a sweet tooth. I always get UNSWEETENED tea and add a couple packs of Splenda. There's less than one gram of carbs in a packet of Splenda. Buy a book or two on low-carb recipes. The shit in those books tastes great and the lower your carbs the lower your fat. Simple as that. If you're really motivated, get a copy of The TNT Diet by Men's Health. The info therein not only melted the last little roll of genetic belly fat off my but it also was the catalyst for me to actually start growing muscle in the gym. Enjoy! |

i'm glad for you, cheers |
Eat tons of vegetables and NOT tons of fruit-fruit has loads of sugar-while it's natural sugar and of course better than refined sugar (candy, cookies, etc.) if you eat too much-it will NOT help you loose weight
small meals spaced out every few hours-and nothing after 7 pm-ONLY whole grains (read ingredients-no "unenriched white/wheat flour-you need whole wheat flour), plenty of vegetables, protein such as salmon, low fat chicken, a small portion of nuts for healthy fats, as well as 1-2 pieces of fruit a day. More than that and it's just too much sugar...I give myself one treat a day (one candy bar, etc.) so as not to "feel deprived" because I have the sweet tooth from hell. Use sparing amounts of olive oil. -Walk at least 1 hour a day |
5 meals - 3 big ones and two snacks, breakfast is a MUST, the last meal - 3 hours before going to bed
+ 1 hour walking 0000000000000000000000000 big meals - chicken breast + salad, fish + salad, lean meat + salad, etc snacks - one fruit, healthbar, fruit youghurt if you want to lose weight and lookg great -> P90X |
A couple times in my life I have had to drop 50lbs in a hurry.
One time it was all no-low carb. The first 25 pounds went in a hurry, but then I hit a plateau. and it took a couple more weeks to get losing again. The other time, a lady worked with me and put me on a diet where I could eat as much low fat meat, beans, or rice as I wanted prior to 7pm. That coupled with walking and other activity. I was full all of the time, and the weight pretty much fell off. |
keep stretched out all day and you will always feel like moving around

Lots of veggies = good Carbs = not so good. So bread, potatoes, pasta = bad Try to cut back on those, make sure you get supplements(vitamins etc) and take them. Fruit: also good but not too many fruits. They are packed with sugars and acids. Sugar = bad for body, acids = BAD for teeth Go for an hour long walk every day. Or twice a day(morning and evening). Get an MP3 player and put some good music on. Take it along. The main problem(especially) webmasters have is that they sit on their asses all day long. |

1) stop eating so much
2) stop eating fatty/greasy foods 3) exercise 4) did I mention stop eating so much? 5) exercise some more yeah yeah, i know im not in perfect shape and I fully admit that I have been eating badly and have gotten very little exercise which is why I gained weight. ive gained and lost weight my whole life and the secret is... watch what you eat and fucking exercise! its a fact, in order to loose weight you need to burn more calories than you take in per day. your body naturally burns calories at a rate of 1500-1800 per day, sometimes more if your taller and somewhat active, less if you are a 90 pound cutie. if your 30lbs over weight than you need to calculate how many calories you should be taking in per day (use the internet to find this), then add up all the foods you eat and subtract your exercise for that day. If your body burns 1500 calories a day and you are eating 2000 calories, but exercising to burn off 600 calories, then your body will burn off 100 calories worth of stored "energy" otherwise known as fat. also, lay off the carbs. you dont need bread with every meal and cut back on it after 4pm or 6 hours before you go to bed. your body will take some time to get used to your new eating, but if you get hungry, drink some water |
I have lost 90lbs..have a bunch more to go though.
Five things for me: 1. Count calories - I aim for 1500 a day at this stage 2. Exercise daily - hate it but have to or I don't move down the scales. 3. Eat less meat - less meat and more fruit and veg means my calories stretch much further 4. Aim for slow burning carbs through whole grains, beans, etc - they fill me up for longer and control insulin so I don't get hungry between meals 5. Know this is a slow process and not try to get upset if the weight doesn't drop super fast. This is my new life, not a diet. |
