leaseweb vs fdcservers vs 100TB

Do You have any experience with them ?
Im going to buy 1Gbit server but still not sure what company choose

Leasweb. I've had a few people tell me that if you actually come anywhere near the bandwidth they give you on the other two you listed, they find some reason to terminate your account - I of course don't know for sure if this is the case, this is just what i've heard.

That is correct. That is their policy more a less from the looks of it historically. Many have said the same.

100tb will cancel your account if you have 1 dmca notice.

fdcservers i have used, but i wouldnt use it for anything critical.

booblord 01-21-2013 06:08 AM

so what you recommend ?

Leaseweb obviously wins. Also i can confirm fris words about 100tb going crazy if you receive a single dmca notice and fdcserver for not hosting anything critical there.

booblord 01-21-2013 06:22 AM

what you mean "hosting anything critical there" ?
Im goin host paysites and webcam site

Porndex 01-21-2013 06:32 AM

Not sure about the others but Leaseweb has pretty awesome connectivity to both the US and Euro. Perfect if you're serving in both areas. Great network... Bit expensive depending on your setup. A while back I also heard that their support was a little lacking. But I guess they are one of the biggest hosts going around so that comes with it.

signupdamnit 01-21-2013 06:42 AM

I've heard bad things about all three. Leaseweb is probably the better of the three for someone who is going to use a lot of bandwidth and is hosting a porn site. But Leaseweb historically has had horrible support which last I heard was officially "best effort" which meant pretty much what they feel like doing and when. Unless you buy an expensive SLA. I might be mixing them up with someone else but this is the deal as I recall it from researching them.

You are not going to get blazing fast speeds, a ton of bandwidth, top notch stable network, enterprise grade hardware, and 5 minute response times for pennies. You are going to be making a trade off somewhere. They are a business that runs on dollars. Choose wisely.

Leaseweb is terribly fucking expensive... fuck them... once you start getting near your initial bandwidth limits you're going to get squeezed on bandwidth prices... even if buying in bulk.

OVH has the best servers+bandwidth packages hands down (both of the two above opinions are based on about 3-4 months ago of research, haven't looked recently)

Snelserver is also good and comparable to OVH, but OVH probably has a better network...

Porndex 01-21-2013 07:02 AM

OVH is much slower to the USA than Leaseweb though, at least in my experience. I guess it depends where the majority of your clients are. OVH also has terrible support, as would be expected.

That is true. You get what you pay for. But I would say PhoenixNAP delivers all of that in my experience. They may not be the absolute cheapest though.

They also do not provide managed support last I knew. You were self managed or semi managed, which would be one of the reasons their prices are cheaper... minimal support.... hence my previous point about trade offs.

Additionally, PhxNap is well financed by CCBill, which is another big game changer when comparing a hosting company to the next. Not all are created the same, or have the same financial backing. A traditional web hosting company is not going to have a first bank of porn, or processing company in the background with cash reserves. That can ultimately make them a stronger alternative compared to a budget provider like Burst as an example where they are sliding by on $2.00 profit margins.

Yes it is self managed. When I was speaking of Leaseweb's support it was also self managed where people were having problems according to the reviews. It still could be a good fit but make sure to know what you are getting. Read this http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?t=1059734 not so much the first post but what some others are saying. For instance up to 8 hour response times when on "best effort". It could be okay for some and not for others. My understanding is if you want the kind of support (response times) you get at other places you need to pay for an SLA. Even for typical self-managed support. PhoenixNAP has always responded within 15 minutes to any ticket I placed. I doubt you can expect that at Leasewb on best effort support.

booblord 01-21-2013 08:21 AM

but if I need hosting for webcams so maybe best solution is take cheap dedicated managed server in Amerinoc,Choopa etc but for streaming buy cheapiest dedicated in fdcservers but with 1gbit bandwidth ?

ya i used them years back, when cogent actually cut them off, server was down for more than 1 week.

only recently i used their vps for testing. $8 a month isnt bad really for 5 ip addresses.

but again i wouldnt host anything major on them, as i only used it for dev purposes.

:pimp

Well yes you could have as primary hosting mojohost.com ,and use some cheap crap like leaseweb/fdcservers to burn bandwidth. But how much i know there is now tons of hosting providers which giving huge bandwidth for cheap. Also you will need to develop a system where you will be able to recover fast in case of bandwidth server goes bananas.

HomerSimpson 01-21-2013 05:01 PM

used/using all 3 - here are my experiences:
- 100tb.com using them right now for mainstream site - burning about 22tb/month - everything fine so far... heard about problems with DCMA... support is ok but nothing exeptional...
- fdcservers - used them trough reseller (active at gfy) and was really good - much better than I thought. I used them back in 2006 and they were crappy at the time but really cheap. Nowdays are much better...
- leaseweb - used them also back in 2006 and their connectivity/performance was OUTSTANDING!!! but their bandwidth pricing were MAD. I remember we had like 1 TB for $100 and we spent 70 GB over the quota and they requested us to pay $700 overage while another 1TB was $100. Complete bullshit! Support was slow and shitty - didn't used them since.

DukeSkywalker 01-21-2013 09:54 PM

why is everyone talking about leaseweb like it's a legit option???
