snow can be very bad, they should add it to terrorist list

DVTimes 12-03-2010 11:09 AM

not post pics from the 1940's blitz, as it will bring back bad memories for Paul M from when he was only 67 years old.

pornguy 12-03-2010 11:11 AM

hahha.. now thats funny. Is it snowing there this year?

Agent 488 12-03-2010 11:12 AM

as a canadian i find it funny how much a little snow sends some areas into a panic ... but since i live in this white hell, the joke is on me : (

Cyber Fucker 12-03-2010 11:15 AM

lol.... exactly my thoughts about it...

DateDoc 12-03-2010 11:22 AM

Seattle is the same way. 2" of snow before Thanksgiving and the city was a mess.

Altwebdesign 12-03-2010 11:26 AM

sounds about right!

Si 12-03-2010 11:31 AM

:1orglaugh

So true! i've seen 4 times that happen in one go here, and people still go out where I am. Doesn't seem to affect anything very much at all.

I used to play in the bomb shelter in the back of my Nan's house and in the bombed out houses when I was a kid.

Funny story.
While I was taking a 3 year holiday in Europe, hitch hiking to get around. I was picked up by a German guy and we got talking. He asked me where I lived and I said Loughton, Essex. So he replies he knows the place.

So I ask him if he had ever been there. No he replies, he only flew over it trying to avoid the Spitfires coming up to get him.

james_clickmemedia 12-03-2010 01:36 PM

The trains stop running and they blame it on the wrong type of snow.

that happens here too though! i recall being in toronto about 11 years ago when they shut down everything because of a major snow storm, called in the military even! :)

fatfoo 12-03-2010 01:56 PM

Ha ha ha. A big snowfall can sure have a big effect. A big snowfall can lead to closing all schools.

I remember that. I was caught in the subway at Woodbine when it shut down as I was on my way home to get ready for a gig in Peterborough.

Small world, i live near Loughton, i've worked there in the past and went to college there.
I'm also old enough (just!) to remember seeing gaps in areas of London in the 1970's where bomb sites hadn't yet been rebuilt on.

John-ACWM 12-04-2010 10:08 AM

Funny and true, saw the news about snowing there!

Both my brothers went to Loughton College and played for the Sunday football team. I was treasurer, never good enough to ply. We did the double in our last real season as a team.

We lived at the other end of Loughton off Nursery Road.

As for snow bringing the UK to a stop. Even our tiny village in Czech can afford to get it's own snow clearing equipment.

It's law you have to clear the pavement in front of your house. Our street only had pavement one side, so the people across the road get a longer lay in. LOL

The view from our caravan window.

Wet leaves have been falling on railway lines every Autumn since the birth of trains. And still every Autumn trains are delayed or canceled because of wet leaves on the railway lines.

Go figure.

DamianJ 12-04-2010 03:02 PM

Some of my pics of the snow here in Arundel. The goat lives at the castle.
