Someone got my password and transferred my domain to GoDaddy and tried to sell it on SEDO. I took the time to track down the thief myself from the ip Moniker gave me and contacted SEDO and Godaddy so they were aware that JRKN was my domain and I had been hijacked somehow. This person has done this before and has been convicted. After I was told the only thing I could do is call my local police department or get a lawyer, I spoke to a few attorneys in this business. I wrote the thief an e-mail telling him I would be sending letters to all of his family, friends, internet provider and employers letting them know what he had done.
He was stupid enough to tell me for $200.00 Paypal he would send it back. I told him I was pressing full legal action and would not stop until I got my domain back. He wrote again and admitted to stealing it and said ?sorry for the inconvenience, I will push it back to you now?. I gave this information to Godaddy and Moniker and Godaddy released the domain back to Moniker after I spend hours on the phone with all of these companies. This process took almost a month while I was traveling between North Carolina and Tennessee for my father heart surgery. So I was not happy at all to say the least.
Lesson learned is protect your domains and make sure they are locked and safe. I never thought this could happen to me but it did and now I?m rebuilding my trades and hardlinks.
