paypal cuts off wikileaks
?PayPal has permanently restricted the account used by WikiLeaks due to a violation of the PayPal Acceptable Use Policy, which states that our payment service cannot be used for any activities that encourage, promote, facilitate or instruct others to engage in illegal activity. We?ve notified the account holder of this action.?
This action from PayPal comes the day after Amazon stopped providing hosting, and EveryDNS stopped providing DNS services for Wikileaks. Wikileaks previously had its PayPal account temporarily suspended back in January of this year. https://www.thepaypalblog.com/2010/1...ding-wikileaks |
Paypal sucks. No one will ever change my mind on that. At times one has to do business with them, but still doesn't change that they are a shitty shitty company.
Sounds like: Stop the press!
well , even though I do not like paypal , they do have a point , wikileaks is encouraging people to give them documents those people are not supposed to give , wich is clearly illegal, the guy that supposedly leaked all the latest documents is facing life in jail, ....
maybe they are right ;)
they should hook up with ePassporte
amazon,everydns,paypal...one by one us companies are dropping like flies and giving in to US goverment while serving us some bullshit excuses why they suspended wikileaks..land of the free indeed..if cables were about russia or china you can be sure all these companies, including US government, would be first to back wikileaks up in the name of "freedoms"...
Government documents are in the public domain as no copyright exists. This is covered by the Berne Convention of which the United States is a signature. People can do whatever they want with the information. Thats the law.
thats what happens when You let people know about Somehow United states and Turkiye government are in the same bed, i hate to be born in this country.
not surprised :(
Paypal sucks.
Think beyond this news.
If the taking down of domains fails to stop piracy what will be the US Governments next move? Give up and forget about it or go to another level. Like payment processing. Think about it. I wish Paypal would block more sites encouraging illegal activity. Like all the piracy sites that charge for a faster download. |

The US government works for the American people. That means the people own those documents. I am an American tax paying citizen and I want to see every document Wikileaks has. It is my right to see them. End of discussion. However, in reality the US gov doesn't give a shit about the people. So fuck 'em. If lives are lost over these leaks, that blood is on the hands of the USA as they put those people in their position to begin with. The USA should not be doing dirty shit and saying stupid things, period. This is what happens when you do. Karma is a bitch. |

doesnt surprise me one Bit

I do remember Assange saying about a month ago they will be doing a big dump on China and Russia in the early new year. It will be interesting to see what the reaction of the United States will be.

Everybody is trying to shut this down right now. That means that every non-corporate big wig should fight to keep it open.
Now we see democratcy of world
This event reminds us about importance of abolishing clasic government types, seriously, Monarchies have been destroyed but Yet tyrannies couldn't.
on the other hand i don't understand how some people here cheer and clap this bad action within tieing this kinda neonazi deal to piracy thing :2 cents: |
Countries have been know to shoot people for less than what has been leaked:thumbsup
Hmmmm.... I still think its better for governments to be "objective" or at least be seen to be objective in how they handle things. At the end of the day if Julian Assange did not break a law, for gods sake.... introduce a new one rather than putting him on some trumped up rape charge.
like we didn't see that coming...
Who is behind the ddos attack on wikileaks?
when they start leaking info on the big banks they better wear bulletproof underwear lol.
Omg...............
paypal = hitler.

Pick a piracy site that uses Paypal, write a letter to Paypal explaining the illegal activity, post the letter on GFY with the email link to report illegal activity to Paypal, everyone copy/paste/send the letter to Paypal. See what they do? |
they still get the record for paypal account held the longest without being suspended zzzzzing
Where is the freedom of speech and democracy? USA shame on you.
governments show what they truly are, as they always do
they better pray that stopping wikileaks in some shady ways will not backfire in unpredictable proportions |

I'm not surprised at all...

Interesting development. That said, easy enough to get a merchant account if you push any decent sales numbers. So I am sure not crippling.
:2 cents: |
I agree with adult-help.
Did you know? The CEO of BP was offed a few days ago. Plane crash. But it's okay - small plane crashes happen all the time. |
