Where are all the millionaires?

No.1
Singapore
Population: 4.7 million
Percentage of Millionaire Households: 11.4%

Who would think the tiny Republic of Singapore would be crammed with so many millionaires? The country, all of just 247 square miles, has emerged from the recession and has rebounded in a big way. Its GDP, exports and manufacturing are all rising, and so, too, are home prices. That has led Singapore to boast the highest concentration of millionaires anywhere on the planet. However, I do not think the living of standard is high there. The value for money is not there.

The best part is u can fly to one of the poorest countries next door, Indonesia... and live like a King there!

stillsexy 12-04-2010 08:37 AM

Wow, are these mostly people who have lived there their whole life and became a millionaire or people that have became millionaires elsewhere and moved there for the cheap living?

United States: "By the end of 2009, the economy grew at its fastest pace in more than six years, even though many businesses put the brakes on hiring."

Israel: "Unlike other markets, the story in Israel wasn't about rising real estate values or credit, but about gains in technology, which some say will help lead the country to continued economic growth."

I call bullshit on this one - 2-3 years ago Norway was No1 when it comes to millionaires per capita and now is nowhere to be found? I don't think so...

iggysick 12-04-2010 01:03 PM

All norwegians moved to Singapore?

From the Wikileaks cables:

Quote:

In an August 17 meeting, Israeli Mossad Chief Meir
Dagan thanked Under Secretary Burns for America's support of
Israel as evidenced by the previous day's signing of an MOU
that provides Israel with USD 30 billion in security
assistance from 2008-2018.
So why exactly is the US giving so much money to Israel?

Singapore is not cheap and very much first world. Singapore and Hong Kong have so much money you can smell it.

stillsexy 12-04-2010 06:04 PM

It is but the low company and personal tax rates still make it attractive for those with high incomes to live in Singapore. Also a really nice clean and safe city:thumbsup

Are you kidding lol? I lived there for 2 years, it is the most hight tech, developed country in the region, a center for finance and the 2nd busiest shipping port in the world.

Don't know what record that is but the vast majority of the millionaires it seems are from the United States. 4.7 million millionaires there.

does it make sense to pay such a huge premium for economic prosperity, warm weather, safety, stability?!?!
