'Hope and change' turned out to be one of the biggest con jobs ever.

I would say it was one of the most brilliant and successful Presidential Campaigns ever. I doubt that anyone can recall an election where someone said so little (essentially 2 words) to get elected. There was no complicated message. No complicated laundry list in terms of a complex political platform to attempt to burn into peoples minds. Instead, they simplified all of that into two words... "hope" and "change". The two most appealing concepts to a populace and world who had grown wary of Bush, War, debt and "politics as usual".

It's an example of brilliant and very successful marketing.

I don't think we will see anything like this again anytime soon. It's very counterintuitive to contract the message to that level and expect success. Instead, we are driven to attempt to appeal to as large a number of people as possible by addressing all their many concerns and issues.

You can't blame the message being sold for the critical questions that were never asked by the buyer.

Obama caught up with Bush rather quickly. And while his campaign was initially so successful, I don't think there's ever been such turnaround in voter addicts so quickly. So while you thought the campaign was successful, it turned out to be an epic failure.

how don't see the correlation, the article and poll is re: retrospective job approval rating.

not a fan of either president, but i don't think it's a fair comparison atm.

Obama's approval rating is higher than RR's or Clinton's at the same point of their presidencies.

Really? One of the first things Obama did once he took office with respect to Afghanistan/Iraq was to .... start attacking Pakistan and send more troops to Afghanistan.

Sounds very peaceful.

What "job" does Bush have that he's getting approval? Polls mean nothing anyways. Remember retarded American voted for Bush TWICE. More people will tell you they like JEB Bush better than George.
