Not to mention some of the great films he was in, some of the best 70's and 80's porn movies made. Dracula Sucks, Pretty Peaches, Autobiography Of A Flea (which is fucking hysterical btw). A true legend in porn!

John gave me my first big part in a 35mm porn film - I was actually nominated for both movies that I did for him, "Chameleons" and "Anything that moves" -for sex scenes and acting.

He was always a friend and mentor and someone who recognized early on that I wouldn't just be another mook hoping for $50 bucks a pop on the gang bang line.

Quick remembrance...


While shooting "anthing that moves" there was a scene that called for my face to get slapped... and slapped hard by Selena Steele, whom anyone knows gets off on that sort of thing... John shot about 25 takes but to tell you the truth I started to get punch drunk and am not sure. I took my smacks and didn't complain.

In fact, I would do it again.

John had a way about working that inspired folks to go the extra distance. His porn pretty much set a standard which so many others try to measure up against, and usually fail, because none would put the sort of creativity, intensity, and passion into shooting that John did.

RIP. He is truly a porn legend.

I agree with everything you posted above. He was truly a MEGA-icon. He added much to porn, and I will always be grateful for the chance to perform/observe-and-learn from watching him as a director/videographer on his sets (once when I was performing in his "Dirty Tricks #1" with Lana Sands and Kirsty Waay; and,later in his "Fresh Meat #7 where he let me perform with Jewel Valmont and Kurious ---John had a special eye for the right angles, and for sexy girls to book. He was truly a Porn Artist (and one heck of a great performer, too!!!). RIP, John.

he's one of the people in the biz i would have liked to have met.

He was someone I always enjoyed stopping by to briefly chat with during the AEE "Business Insiders Only" day in Las Vegas -- a super nice guy who loved making hot women look even hotter in his films! And, he was a gracious gentleman.

In the mid-80s when I discovered vcr porn (by accident), he was one of the first performers I saw. Back then you usually rented the VCR along with the videotape. Well, we rented a VCR that had Pleasure island in it and he was in it. Also, about that time, our satellite dish picked up American XXXTacy network and he was a common...uh..face on that channel...

great guy and a decent golfer. Met him for the first at AVN about a decade ago. Sad loss.

I remember a scene he did with Ginger Lynne back in the 80's, may have been her first anal on film, I forget now, but it was quite memorable, as was much of his work.

The guy is an industry icon, and 65 is way too young to go.
