Julian Assange has been arrested.

Julian Assange turned himself into police.

Nicky 12-07-2010 03:48 AM

Well that was only a question of when.

john FVC 12-07-2010 03:49 AM

Plea bargain next no doubt.

signupdamnit 12-07-2010 03:52 AM

He might as well turn himself in. He wouldn't have much of a chance not doing so anyway. Turning himself in makes him look more legitimate on the other hand I can understand how he'd be worried about being in government custody.

~Ray 12-07-2010 04:31 AM

he has good insurance... we all know the real deal. he should be fine.

dazzling 12-07-2010 04:34 AM

He is fine while in British custody, its Sweden he needs be worried about. One of the concerning things about the warrant is that it states when he is returned to sweden he is to be kept in 24 hour isolation and not be allowed contact with anyone, including his family or lawyer. It seems Sweden is setting up their own version of Guantánamo. This version of Guantánamo it seems is for those that practise freedom of speech. What next, a Guantánamo prison for those that practise freedom of thought.

adult-help 12-07-2010 04:45 AM

shame on sweden..

I think it's normal procedure to be held for a certain time. I was held for 2 days last year and was not allowed to contact anyone, boring as hell but then he will be out again. Hopefully.
I dont think you could compare 24h without any contact with Guantánamo...

Sarah_Jayne 12-07-2010 04:47 AM

He or whatever vehicle he is in will have an 'accident' eventually.

iggysick 12-07-2010 04:49 AM

swedish pussies

HBKKH 12-07-2010 04:51 AM

Wow, thats terrible. Im shocked to read what you just said about your experience in Sweden. I was unaware of any civilized country in the world that denies people held in custody the right to speak to a lawyer.

Just to clarify something, I meant to say 24/7/365...not just 24 hours. In that case it is the same as Guantánamo.

Further to this his Australian lawyers have stated on the news that the Swedish warrant is just a stepping stone to get him extradited by the US, so its very possible that he may in fact end up in Guantánamo.

GetSCORECash 12-07-2010 05:11 AM

I find it hard that the swedes will ship him to states. He is charge With being a perv.

grumpy 12-07-2010 05:17 AM

But that will instantly make him a victim, and eventually a hero.

And besides his arrest is not going to stop publications anyway.

Paul Markham 12-07-2010 05:21 AM

If you fuck with the big boys be careful they don't fuck you back. He took risks and knew what they were. No sympathy for him.

The last leaks of strategic locations serves as a shopping list for fanatics and madmen. Al Queda might already know about them. But what about freelance idiots with a score to settle? People like Timothy McVeigh.

Nor will his death stop the publications at this stage.

No one in Sweden will be denied to speak to his lawyer
but this is a shame for Sweden

u-Bob 12-07-2010 05:47 AM

I guess it's time to grab a copy of that insurance file from the torrent trackers :)

CaptainHowdy 12-07-2010 05:51 AM

The plot thickens...

The Duck 12-07-2010 05:53 AM

Sweden will do whatever the US and EU tell them to do. I am grabbing the insurance file now.

Barry-xlovecam 12-07-2010 06:05 AM

He'll end up an imprisoned or dead martyr.

Zyber 12-07-2010 06:25 AM

Shame on Sweden - but it isn't a demoracy anyway.
Just look at how they conduct their rigged elections.

jalami 12-07-2010 06:34 AM

I'm surprised it took this long... now does anyone have the key to decrypt the insurance.aes256 file yet?

u-Bob 12-07-2010 06:36 AM

1.3 gigs of insurance :)

Davy 12-07-2010 06:44 AM

Do I get a badge if I "turn myself into police"?

bronco67 12-07-2010 06:49 AM

When looking at the picture in the link, it seems obvious to me that he wouldn't be able to rape himself after a night of binge drinking. Most women could break him in half.

adult-help 12-07-2010 07:11 AM

Visa says it has suspended all payments to WikiLeaks "pending further investigation".

haha does this sound familiar to GFYers? :1orglaugh

DWB 12-07-2010 07:11 AM

Who hasn't fucked in Sweden without a condom? Are we all rapists?

pornguy 12-07-2010 07:15 AM

True Dat. These charges are awfully convenient.

But you know what is gonna happen here. I'm sure all kinds of evidence is going to magically appear. They might just lock him away in jail on rape. Its certainly a long enough sentence...I mean... why even bother going through the trouble of charging him and looking like shit.

I hope his insurance file has something good, because all the crap he has shown so far is about as entertaining, and damaging as a gossip mag.

Great, the middle east is corrupt? Oh I'm sorry I was aware of that already.

Yeah. Couldn't they have been smarter about what trumped up charges to pick? I guess drugs is off the list, because he could just submit to a test.

One can only hope. It is a real mystery why he has lasted this long. If he was leaking Russian classified information he would have been taken care of a long time ago. :2 cents:

Freelance idiots? They're idiots, they blow up whatever they want. No need for lists.

btw, Timothy McVeigh is dead for some years already.

If you had ANY clue, you would know that any EU country extradites to any other EU country.. by law.. and considering the political pressure on Sweden by the US, on this matter, Sweden has little option.. "we'll label all of your citizens a terrorist unless you comply.." (and yea, thats basically an actual threat..)

Assange is being indicted because the US asked for it, nothing else..

The only "new" Guantanamo.. will be the one the US opens up next.. to host those that arent ok with the whole "freedom of speech" thing..

True but giving them a list of places isn't helping. I know TM is dead, just used him as an example.

Julian fucked with the big boys, he's going to get fucked back. He must of known that or terribly naive.

nikki99 12-07-2010 11:51 AM

Judge just denied Bail
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20101207/...i_te/wikileaks

xxweekxx 12-07-2010 12:23 PM

lmao he is gonna go to sweden where he will be sentenced to prison for rape.. all it takes is some bimbos saying he raped them in court...

Once he receives the 20+yr prison sentence, the USA will indict him for espionage or similar charge, and request his extradition..

he will then come to USA and live out the rest of his life in solitary confinement 24/7..

dumbass shouldnt have turned himself in...

Since when did bail get denied for alleged rape charge? seriously.. the guy is so small a lot of girls can take him

Supz 12-07-2010 12:26 PM

he is fucked

xxweekxx 12-07-2010 12:26 PM

"Lindfield said one woman accused Assange of pinning her down and refusing to use a condom on the night of Aug. 14 in Stockholm. That woman also accused of Assange of molesting her in a way "designed to violate her sexual integrity" several days later."

HAHAHAHA such bs.. poor guy. never fuck with US govt or big powers, u will eventually get FUCKED

xxweekxx 12-07-2010 12:28 PM

"Legally, there is a good chance Assange will be heading to Sweden. Experts say European arrest warrants like the one issued by Sweden can be tough to beat, barring mental or physical incapacity. Even if the warrant were defeated on a technicality, Sweden could simply issue a new one."

Goodluck son, you are going to need it

djroof 12-07-2010 03:05 PM
