I have a t-shirt from my visit to Pearl Harbor when I was younger. Pretty amazing sight to see considering they didn't bring some of the ships up.

Yes, those ships are War Graves.

The memorial will make you as mad as it does sad. I went through it in '93 when we ported in Pearl Harbor.

Makes me sad.. I remember this day every year as well as the Invasion of Normandy.

Phoenix 12-07-2010 07:24 AM

just so everyone knows...japan has taken any mention of them being an agressor in world war 2 out of their history books...all kids being schooled there get a completely different version of events

seeandsee 12-07-2010 07:28 AM

interesting memorial look out

Rochard 12-07-2010 07:57 AM

I'm reading a book right now called "Strong Men Armed" about the US Marine taking on Japan in the South Pacific. The brutality involved is just stunning, and the Japanese utterly refused to surrender no matter what. Once the United States got going in the South Pacific, there was no stopping them.

SallyRand 12-07-2010 04:38 PM

A bump, lest we forget.

fatfoo 12-07-2010 04:40 PM

I agree with trying to improve memory.

Exactly..

TCLGirls 12-07-2010 05:00 PM

It's very good to know that many US WW2 Veterans and WW2 Japanese Soldiers have personally met each other and forgiven one another.

u-Bob 12-07-2010 05:10 PM

Very sad so many people lost their lives because Roosevelt wanted an excuse to declare war :(

thats why Clint Eastwood made the movie "Letters from Iwo Jima"
Shows the other side
I personally liked Pearl Harbor, it was mainly about the facts.

Was weird living in Pearl Harbor, on Base, next to the Diving Tower on sub base, knowing it was the landmark that the Japanese used to coordinate attacks.

Walking on Ford Island and seeing the bullet holes still in the pavement

We went past the Pearl Harbor Monument every time the ship went out, only time people on a submarine topside will salute anything but the captain of the boat.

Anyone know the difference between a ship and a boat?

You can get a bow angle on a boat for starters.

Some facts are undeniable... http://www.independent.org/newsroom/article.asp?ID=103

Roosevelt, like Johnson and Bush, wanted war to happen and allowed certain events to unfold (or in the case of Vietnam, completely invented them) in order to have a pretext for military aggression...

Such is history...
