For those who are doing a lot of link exchanges daily, and who don't have time to deeply check into the other sites. What are you checking ( other than noffollow links exchange )? Yahoo backlinks? Opensiteexplorer page authority.. ?

Yes, yahoo backlinks can be an option.

PR, nofollow, whether or not the site might be considered a link farm, alexa

the page itself: content, nr of links etc
domain shows up in the serps?
domain age
siteadvisor
...
