Might be Time For Me To Use A New Bank. Any Suggestions?

I've been with Wachovia since before it was Wachovia. Could not have been happier. They were taken over by Wells Fargo a couple of months ago and have gone to shit.

Two most recent things that piss me off are A) today is the 8th and my online statement is only today ready for viewing. Wachovia would have your statement ready like an hour after the month ended. In fact, if the month ended on a Sunday, they'd have your statement available on Saturday cuz no banking takes place on Sunday anyway. Nice!!!

B) BillPay. Wachovia would send your check out whenever you told them to and not take the money out of your account until the date the check was received by your payee. Wells takes your money out the day they send the check. So, they send the check and take the money out and they do whatever it is they do with that money, for 5 days till your payee gets it. BULLSHIT!!

Anyway, I've been with Wachovia SOOO long, maybe I'm just spoiled and this is just the way it is with all banks now. But, before I go researching for new banks, I thought I'd reach out to the GFY crowd and see if anyone had any suggestions.

Thanks.

I'd suggest a local credit union. I love mine. No fees, I get paid interest on my checking account, plus I get cash back on debit card purchases. Fucking awesome :thumbsup

It seems that Wachovia is involved somehow when doing international wire transfers to Bank of Montreal.

I agree with moving to a credit union. I've never had a better banking experience. Not to mention besides normal interest, every member of my credit union received $31 last year in dividends.

Credit union for sure. A lot of them share branches so there are a lot more locations. Things are typically simpler, easier, and cheaper.

I do have a Wells Fargo account I've had since I was a kid and have never had any major problems with them.

I was screwed over by a credit union while in college and will never trust them.

Personally, I bank with Bank of America. They are large and slim chance they will ever go down. 24/7 customer support and I can walk into almost any branch and speak to a manager who will resolve my issue in minutes.

Ive had my debit card stolen at a bar and even got stuck in an ATM were someone made a $300 cash withdrawal... I got the money back in my account the next day.

Id rather not have a bank know who the hell I am as a person but be able to cover mistakes that are made in a minute than trust a smaller bank that says "we can't do anything about the $500 that was stolen from your account until we investigate and that will take probably 12 weeks"

I would recommend td bank. They have them all up and down the east coast so prolly be where you are Steve. great bank, truly america's "most convenient bank". :)
