Bob Guccione must be rolling over in his grave. Anybody who grew up in Penthouse's heyday remembers what a Pet of the Year was - phenomenal looking women with fashion model looks and perfect natural bodies who'd never been seen before. I used to sneak looks at my uncle's Penthouse magazines (and Playboy and Hustler and Cheri...) when I was a kid in the '70s. There were always porn stars (mostly minor, very hot, up and coming porn stars) in that magazine. The demands on porn whores were lesser in those days, but they still sucked cock on film (as it was back then, pre-video).

Back in the glory days of Penthouse, you could appear in a hundred porn movies and still be an unknown. Now, if you suck one little dick on camera, you're face is internationally recognizable.

Its a plastic porn world, boys, but who cares? Penthouse has been irrelevant for twenty years.

Penthouse Pets weren't adult video stars at all - i just googled the history of Pets of the Year. I don't recognize any of the names from porn flicks. Julia Strain maybe?

My favorite Penthouse Pet of all time was the 1983 Pet of the Year, Corinne Alphen, she was in one really bad mainstream teenage comedy Spring Break. Abused my adolescent cock so bad to that girl, wore my VCR tape heads out freezing her scenes from Spring Break.

Contest is no doubt rigged, those in the know, knew the winner couple months ago. In fact most if not all of the pets this year knew who the winner will be.

Nikki Benz is no doubt a bad choice, but non of us here are in charge of the company or have to manage it's bottom line.

And I think she looks great there. :shrug: I hope they just let the readers decide as is claimed without messing with the votes in any way. That seems like the best way to do it. I think sometimes those of us in the industry develop completely different tastes than what the average person is looking for.

That's an interesting turn Penthouse has taken. I got Nikki Benz into the porn business back in 2002 when she answered one of my ads in a local Canadian newspaper and took a few days off of stripping at The Brass Rail to come down to Florida for several days to shoot with me. She made her debut in a movie called "Strap-On Sally 20" starring Gina Lynn.

The Penthouse Pet's of the year candidates pretty much are all known porn stars now, it looks like. Mutt is right, it used to be different back in the 70s and even up until the early 00's. The Pets weren't necessarilly known nude models and certainly not well known porn stars. Photographers would find fresh new faces for the magazine and shoot them or have them shot. The publisher wouldn't just hire whatever hot chicks are already doing porn to be Penthouse Pets.
