well I live in New Orleans....lol

drinking and driving is terrible, hope the death tolls don't get too high this season...

BlackCrayon 12-10-2010 09:18 AM

what do you consider 'drinking and driving'? I'll drive after a few beers. It has no effect on me at that point but I would still be arrested for drinking and driving here in ontario...the blow over point is .05...hardly enough for one beer. very dumb. i've lost some friends to drinking and driving, driving drunk is retarded but people shouldn't be made criminals for having one or two beers and driving.

brassmonkey 12-10-2010 09:19 AM

i drink and drive! 7-11 big gulp

Sexier 12-10-2010 09:21 AM

I usually don't drink and drive...

First I drink then I drive

Sarah_Jayne 12-10-2010 09:27 AM

Having had a husband left disabled until his eventual death because of a drunk driver, it is one of the few things for which I have exactly zero tolerance.

123 People Were Harmed During the Making of This Film

I guarantee that won't stop an idiot from driving drunk, no matter how profoundly graphic it is. The same as showing a smoker cancer filled lungs won't stop them. You can't make a stupid person stop being stupid. You just hope that when they finally take their own life, they don't take anyone innocent with them.

Yea I loved that episode of Mythbusters where they showed that driving while sleep deprived was much, much worse than driving "buzzed" (just under the legal limit, so like a couple beers), which should be obvious to anybody. Using your cellphone while driving is equivalent to being legally drunk, even with a handsfree, and texting is possibly the most dangerous activity to consider doing while driving.

czarina 12-10-2010 09:35 AM

yes, I know someone. He and his wife stopped being my friends after I told her that he needed to get a hold on his drinking, because they drive drunk all the time.

CDSmith 12-10-2010 09:35 AM

I went zero tolerance on this nearly 20 years ago. No specific reason like someone close to me dying or anything, although I have known several who died where drinking and driving was involved.

It's simply not worth the risk, nor the trouble. Period.

Agreed, the law in ontario is not right. I know I can have 3 beers and be fine to drive. The law is trying to tell me I can barley have one now.

No excuses!

MiLo 12-10-2010 11:20 AM

I firmly believe that some people should not be allowed to drive AT ALL.

Spunky 12-10-2010 11:29 AM

Sadly many people still won't learn, until they get caught

bobby666 12-10-2010 11:45 AM

i am drinking first, and then i drive

MattO 12-10-2010 11:45 AM

Maybe if the idiots in that fucking video would have driven on the correct side of the road then they wouldn't have been smashing each other all up.

munki 12-10-2010 11:55 AM

You drink, you drive, you spill...

CamsMaster 12-10-2010 12:07 PM

I do it ... always careful... is not only my life that can be harmed

Moose 12-10-2010 12:11 PM

Drinking and driving is not illegal.
Driving while intoxicated is.
Drivers on mobile phones are more impaired than drivers at .08 BAC. (University of Utah Study)

the more you weigh, the more you can drink and then drive...

fogfever 12-10-2010 07:04 PM

you can buy a breathalyzer on amazon.... that way you can know how much to drink before you drive.

Sorry for your loss.
I lost my brother due to a drunk driver.
Zero tolerance is a great policy to have on this very common sense issue.

Only operate dangerous mechanical machines while sober. The mechanical machines can be deadly to humankind if operated the wrong way. Don't drink and drive. Good luck!

Jon Oso 12-10-2010 07:56 PM

I was part of a drinking study at a Sheriff's office a few months ago...

After 16 shots of 92 proof rum I blew a .112 ... 16 more shots I blew a .14x. this was all over about 4-5 hours. By far the most I have ever drank. I did have a ride home in a squad car lol.

There were people straight falling over and having to be carried to the table to blow, couldn't believe some people can make it to their car and drive at higher BAC's.

We were super proactive at the last club I worked at, if someone was overserved we would follow them to their car and tell them not to drive and give them two options -

Either they get into a cab that we pay for and go home, or they drive out of the parking lot and we call the police to report them for drunk driving.

You'd be surprised at the amount of people who didn't take the free ride home.

WebairGerard 12-10-2010 08:29 PM

thing is most people think they "OK" to drive even when clear to most they have had too much. hard to stop them.

Farang 12-10-2010 10:30 PM

That's the reason I don't drive at all. Roads are safer without me driving...

HBKKH 12-10-2010 11:10 PM

boring. the crashes are alright.

docputer 12-11-2010 12:51 AM

I can't believe the star athletes that get caught driving drunk. They can afford to hire a driver, and not be subjected to the legal difficulties and suspensions, but they still drink and drive.
I do like the programs during the holidays, where Budweiser or other companies will pay for a free taxi home. A car dealer here pays for the cab home, and a wrecker to deliver your car home, but that is only on new years eve.
