does a beer or two ever help you work more productive?

ever have those days where you feel too hyperactive and unfocused and a beer or two might actually get you in a better frame of mind to get some work done? I'm going to try that theory right now, will see what happens

Try Aderral, kiddy speed.

yeah, the beer is probably just a way of self-medicating :1orglaugh

It used to. With two kids now a beer at the end of the day lands me in lala land on the couch with my DVR. I don't crack them open until closing time...

Don't drink anymore ... also, am on Percocet for back pain. Yesterday I forgot I took my pill at 7am and at 7:30am retook one ... man was I a flying kite for 4-5 hours.

Did get LOTS of work done tho. :thumbsup

bobby666 12-15-2010 02:26 AM

i am getting my inspiration after 6 beers

Chosen 12-15-2010 03:35 AM

No it doesn't.

Kiopa_Matt 12-15-2010 03:45 AM

Nah, beer just makes me tired. However, a couple whiskeys takes the edge off, so I can tolerate another day of typing oh-so-exciting source code.

Jakez 12-15-2010 03:47 AM

Beer no, I will just get tired out. But sometimes I will pour some four loko in a glass of ice to sip while I work and that works great. Just cant drink the entire can at once or else I'll be a little too fucked up to concentrate but spreading it out over some hours on ice gives youa nice buzz and the shit in it is stronger than caffeine. It's a shame theyre going to stop making it.

I've never been a very good day drinker. Couple or three beers in the afternoon and I'm liable to wake up at 6 pm not knowing what hit me.

During my years as a nightshift kind of webmaster a few beers to pass the time was okay. These days I tend to keep more regular hours, or try to.

Coffee is my daytime drink of salvation.

Spunky 12-15-2010 07:01 AM

A beer or 2 is a like peanuts,you can't have just a couple

ottopottomouse 12-15-2010 07:06 AM

Only at night.

Ross 12-15-2010 08:17 AM

In 2004/2005/2006 when I was 21-23 years old I'd knock back a couple of coolers 2-3 days a week while working, those were by far my most productive days. I used to work at night so it was good to sit with a couple of cold ones and just work away. Didn't ever do more than 3 while working tho. I would have done it every night but I feared becoming an alcoholic lol. I usually did it Wednesday, Thursday, Friday nights so I could have most of my heavy duty stuff done for the weekend, and leave myself with only the bare minimum needing done.

potter 12-15-2010 08:39 AM

No. It just makes me giddy for 30-60 minutes and then I'm more tired. Beer during work just doesn't cut it.

wehateporn 12-15-2010 08:48 AM

As long as it was after 9pm and I was in a positive frame of mind, it could certainly help my work, but just the one

Hentaikid 12-15-2010 10:29 AM

It does help. I mainly drink it with meals though, not on it's own

no. :2 cents:

fatfoo 12-15-2010 10:56 AM

It does not help productivity. I think it reduces productivity.

LeRoy 12-15-2010 10:58 AM

Not really. 2 beers and I wanna party!

kristin 12-15-2010 12:22 PM

A hit or two helps me. =)

Rochard 12-15-2010 12:39 PM

I never really liked the taste of beer really.

But no, a beer doesn't help me at all. In fact, I haven't drank in years. Not a drop.
