Nah, I will take being able to walk down the street over snow any day of the week. I think it would be difficult to get the kind of neighborhood participation Sleepy Hollow exhibits. I do not know if you understand how many homes are in this neighborhood. It is hundreds, and they all are decked out.

This goes on for blocks. Not only does everyone participate, but they all are ready the day after Thanksgiving and keep them up until New Years, at least.

Nothing as elaborate as that,I'm lucky to see a string of lights on a few houses here and there..mostly Asian around me

Thats really cool. I wish I still gave a shit about christmas enough to decorate my house, I'd probably have fun doing it.

was driving up the valley today and along the mountainside someone has this fucking gigantic red "JESUS" spelled out in huge letters. It spans the entire town, ridiculous shit really. doesn't matter where you are in the entire place, you can see huge red glowing JESUS. No other lights or anything...

i have more lights than any of my neighbors :1orglaugh

I live in a condo complex and most of the owners here seem to be my age +/- 8 (I'm 28)...seems like either people go elsewhere for the holidays or are apathetic. 3 years in a row there's been no kids trick or treating here and I've seen maybe a couple if any minor displays of Christmas lights up.

LOL a bit overkill on the animals maybe? We see some of this stuff here too It does get a better "glowing" effect when surrounded by white snow. I'd rather be without the -20 degrees C though brrrrr.

One neighbor has one string of blue lights.

No one here decorates that I know of. Might be time to start something like that here.

they don't know what xmas lights are for over here in Serbia, unfortunately only our balcony and the neighbors can be somewhat called 'decorated'

Someone near me always has a huge star on the side of their house and as it's at the top of a hill you can see it for miles. Looks quite good really but fuck knows how much it costs to run.

but we have this thing called "Nature in lights" .. its this hugeeee drive through xmas light display thats fun

LA City Dept of Water and Power used to do one in Griffith Park that was pretty intense. I have not checked it out in years, so not sure its status.

There are businesses that have sprung up around this. Not only to put up and take down lights, but there are vendors renting golf carts to ride through the neighborhood, people selling hot chocolate, stuff like that.

I have been getting a lot of requests like that. I will probably write something up and include a map for people. It is by Pacific Coast Hwy and Calle Mayor if familiar with the area.

goodgirl and I went on two separate evenings and still did not see everything, because yes, it does take a while.

Yeah I thought it was tricky. I remember years ago trying to take some pics of lights at night and it didnt work with a cheap camera.
