I'm sure you've come to the right place with this question :)

Playboy is just an example! :winkwink:

Yes they can, most trademark holders will not bother if your not getting traffic or just parked, but if the domain does get traffic they will send you a S&D letter to turn the domain name over to them. If you do give them the domain they will most likely not sue you unless you were doing something crazy with their trademark.

A domain with Playboy in it, if you plan on promoting playboy you should check out their TOS policy or contact them directly for permission.

I would stay away from anything trademarked...

there are diff. , types of trademarks.,

obviously u can use trademarked word but not in same niche,

just like face, for facebook , u cannot start a social networking site with domain contains face in it.
but u can start porn tube with faceporn.com

i m not sure about it, but i read it on US patents / trademarks site, search for ur trademarked word.

if u still want to mess around , buy it from offshore registrar.

Yes they could. Playboy is considered a strong mark in the trademark sense, doubly so in its own industry. Would definitely advise against that. :)

If you are interested in trademark law you might google about the differences between a strong mark and a weak mark. Ideally you would ask your lawyer though. If you don't have one it is something worth sorting out before you need it. Having a good business lawyer is invaluable, I would recommend asking friends who run their own businesses who they use if you need to find one.

ouch..your wasting money here, lemme run through some domain basics for u

1)avoid 'brands' such as playboy, vivid, hustler, etc etc
2)hyphens -
3)stick to .COM
4)stick to .COM again
5)register something people search for like sexyblondenudes.com
6)avoid registering 'vanity domains' like joeshotmamas.com

above is just a generic list for a domain newbie....
