Why are so many scripts mistaking Australian traffic for Mobile?
I've been getting served up effing mobile versions of sites more and more recently, by default.
I'm in Sydney, Australia. Why? Do American sites think that all traffic outside of the US must be from people using their mobiles? :1orglaugh |
I didn't even know they had internet
|
example site ?
|
why do you think it's just aus traffic? could be happening to everyone?
|
Does anyone use wurfl ? any reason why not ? I've read topics about people asking about silly htaccess ways of redirecting mobile traffic, so im thinkin theres a logical reason for this
I haven't delved into mobile yet but wurfl is a part of the gameplan ive laid out |
any similarities in IP blocks?

Example sites - I was pointing out to someone yesterday that there are already illegal tube site lists available, as an example, I sent them to http://www.ovguide.com/ - it redirected me to http://m.ovguide.com/.
One of the biggest Aussie electronic retailers even does it - jbhifi.com.au redirects me to http://m.jbhifi.com.au/ and I'm with the largest ISP in the country, so you'd think they'd at least get that right, especially being an Australian country. |
its because of the kangaroos :2 cents:

Do you have the same problem if you use different bowser?

I use both IE8 and FF, have to test how sites look in both of course. |

Because Australia is in movement a well as its money.
|
Because it is an island that is constantly moving. Everything is mobile there.
|
because you are an imbecile, they confuse it with the word mobile in your case..
|
Do you have any addon or privacy tool that hides your browser?
Some sites, if they can't recognize what browser you're using, will assume it's mobile. |

Their mobile detection script is faulty. Some mobile user agents include 'au-m', 'aur ', and 'aus '... country locale is also part of the string so those scripts are picking up the locale portion and using it to redirect.
